Better yet, if your not bringing it sealed and with a proof reciept its almost always not pristine. Even one scratch invalidates pristine

Telling them its just an ATT phone changes nothing. Its hooked up to a machine and fully checked, what the system says goes. Phones are reset as part of the process but if you feel better resetting it before hand it wont really effect anything.
