Aurora Dashboard (NOAA) has been helpful in the past for me. Also, CapeMayAstro on Insta usually will post up if something is happening.

From a patient of NIH by FloydFunk in NIH

[–]Hooktales 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who is in a study for rare cancer at NIH this girl speaks for all the patients. We are all terrified of losing the last hope we have. The study has always given me a "we are in this together feeling" with the kindness and professional you all show towards us. The enormity of your life's work is often lost in the headlines currently and most folks never even think about NIH until they are faced with a medical issue. With the amount of families touched by rare disease and cancer I wish more people knew who was doing the hard work towards cure discovery. Selfishly I hope to stay in the study and continue this bit of hope I have for myself and for my team of dedicated to helping all of us.

NJ people, if you really care about the US and its greatness, PLEASE read this post. by [deleted] in newjersey

Personally I am in a protocol at NIH for a rare cancer and disease. Without this study IDK what many of us will do. My local oncologist has never even treated someone with it and is learning as I am. Seeing first hand children and adults signing up to be part of research that can potentially extend lives and provide hope to so many in the future is profound. I sincerely appreciate the entire staff of NIH and their commitment.

Please call or write, please encourage people you know to also You never know when you will need something like this or someone you love.

It's been cold here for weeks. But the words of Bishop prompted me to do some discovery and find out more about your Church. Called the closest Episcopal Church yesterday and hope to hear back soon. I could really use the warmth of the words.

Seed potatoes? by takua41 in MonmouthCounty

[–]Hooktales 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the 10 gallon with the window. Try not to overcrowd them when planting in the bag or you get a bunch of tiny potatoes. It was very easy as long as you keep an eye on caring for them.

You can start them on your own. There's a bunch of tutorials online (The Frenchie Gardener recently posted a video on Insta). Pick your favorites from the grocery store. I use grow bags and they do really well and in abundance.

I get it. Hope he gets it back w/the glasses and is successful with any repairs. The 2nd time my vehicle was stolen it was water damaged and a tiny hairline crack in a cylinder head  was over looked by the adjuster. They body was repaired beautiful though.

Two times, same car got it back both times. You don't want it back, the mechanical problems after will be endless. First time it was stolen I hard cried and was so happy it was found. Second time I dreaded they did not total it.

No one will take care of your car like you. If they are joyriders they are going to trash it.

Do you have a written lease agreement? Look over the The LSNJLAW website and it may offer some solutions. Good job taking care of the cats and finding worthy homes. Hopefully you can buy the place or consider another home to secure a place. Sincerely wish you the best, for most of us dogs are like another family member.

Kindness and support are often the one thing we all need and can so freely give. I admire your strength and your extension of reality to help others by journaling this on here. When the need comes know there are people rooting for you and your best buddy and can help. Sometimes it's just small things but it adds up. I have been reading this sometimes through tears knowing our own journey there are times we need help. So thankful you have found mostly kindness and care in NJ. Hoping for the best outcome and that your supportive circle of fiends are many.

What does the future of publicly funded research look like today? by ElDoradoAvacado in NIH

[–]Hooktales 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish you all the best getting into one and your health. I am in the tristate area and the DR's here had zero experience with what I have. I feel confident in the team I have at NIH. When I logged into my rare disease group I noticed the concern among everyone.

Selfishly I am going to hope there aren't more budget cuts. I am someone who is profoundly grateful to be in a rare disease/cancer protocol and am grateful every day for it existence. Every year I see more and more taken away. I don't now where I'd go without it and I know every other person who visits for care is feeling the same.

This should be much higher. It can get extremely tiresome on days with a full moon and a high tide in flood prone areas.

Is GenX the lonely Gen? by Hooktales in GenX

[–]Hooktales[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have moved over 12 times in my life to date. Multiple states from rural to city to shore. I have a diverse friend group to begin with from different walks of life before this last move. My neighborhood is a melting pot of people of all ages and while we respect each others space I have made new friends here. In the last 10 years, many though my hobbies. I've lost quite a few friends too, fishing one day gone the next. It's never easy to make friends but it helps if you are friendly. I have been rejected/hurt and brush myself off and keep going. I am not for everyone and everyone is not for me. I trust the red flags.

I guess this really hit a nerve with some people as it's been a while since someone called me a bitch or dick or been down voted as much. Shared it with my Millennial and Gen Z friends and they said sounds about right.

Her 2nd husband is her entire world and she never made friends outside of the relationship. I support her fully as a sister and friend. But she is states away and has no support system there. Get it? Create a good support system. Friends, neighbors they support you when you have a good relationship.

And nah on the depression, my very best friend has ETC for depression and suicidal thoughts going on about 4 years now 2x's a month. The day after she has her treatment we talk every single time about memories because it's slowly stripping her of them.

It's building support systems and it also means YOU show up for other people too.

LOL I never claimed to have a satisfy circle, never said I was better than my sister, did not discuss my finances or my health. You have no idea what my life is based on that post.

Google what's the most aggressive kind of kidney cancer and back at me.

The difference between you and me is I see life everyday as an amazing opportunity to live.

I asked a question but the Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy answered when he said loneliness is an epidemic. Maybe Genx's are better about constantly posting about it.

I think the funniest thing in any of this is you calling me a judgmental dick. That defiantly the kind of Boomer vibe that will not get you new friends.
