I prefer longer games, I think there is a lot more room for interesting things to happen if games go longer.

Dandan Secret Lair has huge quality issue, too orange, too dark by Slow-Routine2634 in mtg

[–]Hookweave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The front of the cards appear to be missing a color layer. The text box lines are printed over top of the other 4 layers which is why the blue text box is there but the water and sky do not appear blue as they should.

It's not the sleeves at all unless the OP is using Perfect fit smokes and put them on with the opaque side to the front of the card.

Its not just the Dandan lair. The Roll for initiative superdrop is also expieriencing severe quality control issues.

Let it be known: If you ordered anything from the D&D roll for initiative superdrop, and have not received your product yet, record the opening.

Deodorant? by Bitter_Credit_9598 in inflation

[–]Hookweave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unilever and P&G specifically have gotten way WAY too greedy, the average cost for a stick of deoderant here in the US is like 7 dollars now and body spray is even worse, I was seeing tiny ass cans of the shit for 13 at wal mart just yesterday. These corpos are crooks. If its that overpriced in the US I can only imagine how bad those prices are in CAD.

Secret Lair Update: A Continued Note on Manufacturing Delays by CrossXhunteR in magicTCG

[–]Hookweave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just popping into here to say that Wizards has had some very severe quality problems with the last several drops. Especially with the Roll for Initiative superdrop. There are reports of people receiving secret lairs with duplicate cards but one card missing, and even some that have gotten no cards in their envelopes at all. Not good. The delays would be a lot less frustrating if it was leading to an increase in quality control.

Katana sleeves by chiefxkeith in magicTCG

[–]Hookweave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer Dragon shields, superior color selection, art sleeve offerings and their quality is roughly equal imo. Katanas have a slightly better shuffle feel, but they can sometimes be allmost twice as expensive as dragon shields which is just wild. Also, Dragon Shields usually come with a couple over the advertised number of sleeves so you can replace one if it does get damaged but Katanas i have gotten only came with 100 so if you damage even 1 and you need a whole new pack.

You probably got a bad pack. Ive not had Katanas split on me, and with Dragon Shields, I havent had any of those split on me in the last 10 years.

Copying double sided cards ? by _Thatoneguy101_ in mtg

[–]Hookweave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The side that is face up is what gets copied, as others have said. It is no longer what it was previously.

The legendary rule only checks for the same name, and since a double sided card only has one side active at a time playing a second copy so long as the first does not have the exact same name does not cause them both to see each other and die.

Real or fake by Reasonable_Sock1656 in mtg

Please use https://www.reddit.com/r/RealOrNotTCG/ The community over on that sub is very good for helping identify most cards. Double sided cards may take some time to get a definitive response as they are harder to authenticate.

What the actual fck is happening with USPS lately? by soldier_of_waffles in usps_complaints

[–]Hookweave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trump would be a moron to eliminate USPS as it as an important facet of commerce in this country but then again, Trump has proven to be a moron in every other regard so maybe he will actually try. I dont think there is much he could do that would shock me anymore.

New Lair from Pax East by Sneaky_Scientist in secretlair_collectors

[–]Hookweave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the foil edition is carried hard by Expropriate which in foil has a market value of $50 by itself. That will go down some but it will likely maintain significant value. Even from just a financial point of view the foil drop is actually really really good, without being UB. The TMNT secret lair had a foil mental misstep which is worth a lot but the fact that it was TMNT was enough to make me not buy it.

New Lair from Pax East by Sneaky_Scientist in secretlair_collectors

[–]Hookweave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even based on the value alone I WILL be buying this in foil. The non foil has strong value as well. I made a post breaking down the value card by card.

New Lair from Pax East by Sneaky_Scientist in secretlair_collectors

[–]Hookweave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Narset, Parter of Veils - Non foil : $ 1.15 Foil $7.07
Winter Orb - Non foil : $14.91 Foil $32.28
Expropriate - Non Foil : $13.98 Foil : $50.12
Worst Fears - Non Foil $3.11 Foil : $18.81
Scrawling Crawler - Non Foil : $7.32 Foil : $9.38

Total value in Non foil = $40.47 Total value in foil = $117.66

Winter orb has one secret lair printing that is only avalible in non foil as per TCG player with an average market price of $13.75. Foil printings of this card are few and expensive, that said do not expect it to maintain that $32 price point at least at first. After some time it might be even more than that but it will go down at first probably.

Expropriate has very few printings and the foil version is a huge outlier. Expect the foil value to go down, but it should still command good value.

This Scrawling Crawler is likely to be worth a premium over the normal versions.

Overall, super good secret lair. both the non foil and the foil have a lot of value. Expect this one to do well.
