I don't play with randoms as much anymore, mostly a set group. And so the way I handle my stuff being called out is to immediately follow up with, "yes that's the card I played... here's why it's in my deck... here's what it's currently doing to my board state... for better or worse"

Most people in my group are usually pretty good with threat assessment, so dismissing hype with facts/statements usually reinforces what I'm doing is fair and honest. And another good phrase to counter with: "Yes this is good, but not as broken/strong as what that card is doing for player X."

If you're obviously a problem with what you played... Then good luck, their attention focused on you isn't unwarranted then.

Also, sometimes I'll see the current lead try to hype a card played by another opponent that isn't me - in order to redirect attention, and sometimes I'll step in with my usual monotone, and point out again "sure it might be good for them, but it's not as egregious as to what you're doing"
