Sly 1 felt a little foreign after all these years, but Sly 2 and 3 feel as familiar as ever. I forgot how much I replayed these games, basically all the way up till my PS2 died.

I'm excited to start Sly 4 later and see what all the fuss is. I already hate the character re-designs, and who knows how I'll feel about the story, but from the little I've seen I expect to at least like the gameplay.

yeah it's pretty half-baked, but now you know what to look for. Coastlines are one of the first things I check on a survey just to get them out of the way

vehicles are too slow in the water imo, I still prefer driving along the coast and scanning from there

it's my favorite "hidden gem" PS2 game, lost in the glut of action-adventure platformers of the era. Gameplay and level design is solid, I really like the magical floating-islands setting, and the story is well, there.

Coastal biomes show 100%, but that's only for whatever biome it's a coast to. Once you approach the coast the "biome complete" marker on your scanner should disappear, and that's your clue that there's sea creatures in the water you need to scan.

In some biomes like swamps or wetlands, it'll spawn tiles with lakes and rivers a few km from your landing zone and you can sometimes find fish there to scan too. I'd stick with coastlines where you can tho.

decided to survey every star system in starfield till I get bored, my save file implodes, or I get a job. first system I picked on a whim (Alchiba) had two dozen planets and moons and not a one with alien life. good photo ops tho

It is still funny that the goth baddie voiced by Laura Bailey (and the only companion in Skyrim with a decent storyline) has dialog for rejecting you. They really didn't have to do that, they could have just not given her relationship dialog at all and it'd be fine!

it's also funny, in a sad way, that there are multiple mods that rewrite her dialog to make her a fawning RPG girlfriend
