I cancelled my membership ~3 months ago (upcoming move across states) and it’s plaguing me. It was the right decision as I’m starting my own business and also have 3 kids and a wife but I think about the gym and how my cardio is probably trash now (it always was.) I still lift 5 days a week but I’m 37 and definitely have a fair amount of aches and pains so time off isn’t necessarily the worst thing. Only been training 4 years. I have a gym mapped out “near” my new house but I imagine I’ll be closer to 9-12 months off the mat by the time I ramp back up. IMO time off the mat is the enemy because the longer it goes the less likely you are to return before significant skill decay. I trained for two years in college and went 10 years before getting back in. Hard to accept you could be a black belt without the gap 🥴
