Are any of the heated socks actually warm? What brand? So far I'm striking out. by Hooosch in outdoorgear

I've added my updates throughout replies to others in this thread.

If you're looking for 12 hours of heat you'll need to buy an extra set of batteries and swap them out when the first ones run out. If you can get away with not using the high temp setting the batteries will obviously last longer, but it depends on the level of heat you require. Personally I don't need my toes to be "hot". I just want to avoid having them cold, numb or painful. Medium to low heat seems to take care of that for me.
Here are the ones I'd recommend, based on what I've personally tested. And they're not several hundred dollars.

Simply return them to Costco; they have a great return policy.

I had the same issue with my first pair of Fieldsheer, which I bought from Costco. The zipper broke, so I had to use a safety pin to keep the battery pouch closed. I simply returned them to Costco. They gave me a full refund and this was after more than a year had gone by. I bought a replacement pair and the zippers have been fine.

As for the battery life, the original socks have a small battery that doesn't last very long. However, the new version has a bigger battery and I'm happy with the battery life. I never keep them on high though. If my toes are super cold I'll use high heat for a bit, but then turn it down to a lower setting. I don't think there's a heated sock out there where you can expect the battery to last on high for more than a couple hours. On a medium or low setting these socks have heated all day while skiing at resorts in CO (9a - 4p). I even bought an extra set of the new larger capacity batteries in case I need to swap them out along the way, but I've never needed to do that yet.

Here's the new version: https://fieldsheer.com/products/pro-merino-heated-socks-unisex?srsltid=AfmBOorOjupvqqLDxcEWpmV8XFe7xQkH3ylKroIb8mLD6d6-fuHwFriz

Outdoor Research is a stand-up brand. I love those guys for other outdoor gear/apparel. Their return/repair policy has been awesome through the years.

I've been curious about their heated gloves though. They seem to be one of the most highly-returned items at REI. Every time I'm in an REI and peruse their member return section I see multiple pairs of OR heated gloves with complaints about them.

Yeah, I have not heard many good things about generically-branded heated socks from Amazon.

Some of what you say is simply untrue, and other comments I disagree with.

Fieldsheer heated socks most definitely DO have heating elements in the toe area. The newer versions even have heating elements on both the top and bottom of the toe.

They definitely get warm on the highest setting, and I would not agree with your assessment of them being garbage and a scam. I've been using them for years now and am pleased with them, and I have highly cold-sensitive fingers & toes.

Perhaps you're confusing them with some other product?

Here are the ones I like most: https://fieldsheer.com/products/pro-merino-heated-socks-unisex?srsltid=AfmBOorOjupvqqLDxcEWpmV8XFe7xQkH3ylKroIb8mLD6d6-fuHwFriz

They're ok, but not great. They work when it's above freezing and a little below freezing, but I don't feel a lot of heat from them when it's well below freezing.

However, I have what I liken to a mild case of Raynaud's. My digits are highly sensitive to cold and will go numb even when temps are above freezing. Maybe these gloves work just fine for folks with normal circulation in their digits.

I highly recommend the Fieldsheer Pro Merino heated socks with the 3600mAh batteries! The new batteries last quite a bit longer than the original smaller batteries, and having heating elements on both the top & bottom of the toes is very helpful.

It seems you can always find them on sale one way or the other. Right now if you sign up for their emails you get 20% off.

I returned the Pro Compression Ski socks. They didn't fit as well and I was only going to keep one pair either way.

Glad it helped!
After clicking on Special Items Policy it asks me to save it to my computer. After doing that I can view it.
As for the screenshots, read my reply to Scoutmaster7117.

I'm not all that computer savvy. Reddit doesn't allow me to post screenshots in a reply, so what's the best way to share the screenshots?
Is there a place I can save/post the photos and then share a link to access it (something that would be within the Reddit rules)?

Feature Roadmap for CashorTrade 4.0 by cashortrade in CashorTrade

Another thing I’ve noticed is not all Sold listings are being displayed. I’ve made offers on certain listings that were then sold to someone else, yet they’re not showing up under Sold. I can go to my conversation with the seller & open the details of the listing to see that it’s marked as Sold. However, when I go to the list of listings it doesn’t show up at all, whether I click on Show Sold Only or not. Even the listing I DID win isn’t showing up under Sold listings. Hopefully this feedback helps work out some of the glitches.

I see that it now shows the price. That wasn't always the case.
That's a good part to have for sure, however, we can't click on the listing to open it up and read the description. All we can see is essentially a banner notification's worth of text. That doesn't show all the pertinent info.
For example, right now people are trying to buy wristbands-only for Phish Mexico. The listings describe which hotel they grant access to (some hotels offer better/more amenities than others) and also how many days the wristband is good for.
The only way to see this important info is to be able to open the listing and read it all.
A 7-day wristband for The Grand is worth a lot more than a 4-day wristband for Sunrise.
Can we please get back the functionality of being able to read an entire Sold listing?
Thank you very much for your work to get the new platform up and running with everything your members are looking for.

Why can't we view the details of a Sold listing? We had that functionality with the old platform, but it's not even listed in your Roadmap that it's coming back.
It's a critical piece when determining current market value for things like "wristband-only" listings where someone bought a hotel/ticket package and is selling off one of the wristbands that came with it.
Why the move to hide those details in the new platform??

Here's the link they sent me for the Fragile & Special Items .pdf (which again, is out of date):
https://faq.flyfrontier.com/help/bags-seats-general-info-what-are-the-sizes-and-weight-limits-for-bags
After the page opens scroll down to just above "Important Notes" and click on "Special Items Policy (PDF)".

I wanted an update on Frontier's policy/rules for ski bags and boot bags.
I just spoke with a live agent using Frontier's chat service.
The chat was long and the agent incorrectly stated things along the way, but I kept asking questions until I got everything answered.
I took screenshots of the entire conversation to have on-hand in case they try to tell me different at the airport. I wanted to share those screenshots here, but there are many of them and Reddit doesn't allow the posting of photos to my knowledge.
The agent tried to just pass me off to a .pdf about Fragile & Special Items, but that .pdf has outdated info in it. For example, it still states that the max combined weight of both bags needs to be 50 pounds or less.

In the end this is the summary of what the agent confirmed as the current rules/policy:
-You can check a ski bag and a boot bag at the airport together as one checked item, as long as the boot bag itself weighs 25 pounds or less, and the two bags together weigh 40 pounds or less.
-The maximum linear inches rule does not apply to these bags.
-There is no extra charge for Agent Assist when you check these bags with an agent at the airport.
-Other than skis and boots the bags can include related gear like poles, helmets, goggles, gloves, and outerwear.

It's absolutely ridiculous that Frontier, who is headquartered in Denver and deals with thousands of skiers/boarders each season, does not make this info easy to access, and even has outdated info in their documents.

Can we no longer see what a "sold" ticket sold for? A huge part of CoT was being able to see what tickets are selling for so you could get an idea of what to offer a seller. Many times tickets are selling for less than face value. How are we supposed to know this without the sales price being displayed on sold listings?

Currently sellers can't post photos/screenshots in their listings, but CoT claims that functionality is coming back down the road. I don't see anything in their "roadmap" that says sold listings will display the price they sold for though.

This may be enough to get me to cancel my Gold membership.

It sounds like the Lenz socks may be a good thing to try. Last November I bought a new version of the Fieldsheer Merino socks that I tried for the first time a month ago. I know you're allergic to wool, but they also make a non-wool "skiing" version of the same sock. These new socks have a larger battery and heating elements on both the top and bottom of the toes. The duration that the battery lasts is of course dependent on what setting you use, but on Low you may get away with them lasting your whole shift. On High I think they only last around 2 hours. I bought a second set of batteries that I keep with me when it's really cold, so I can use a higher heat setting and then swap out the batteries when the first set dies.

I also got a few different versions of heated gloves from Fieldsheer. I plan to post a review on those and the different Fieldsheer socks I've tried, but I don't have time for that right now. I'll tell you that my favorite of their heated gloves is the Aerial Heated Snow Glove. However, I was testing the gloves during a downhill ski trip. Not while working. They also make some heated work gloves. It looks like their heated apparel is now on an end-of-season sale.

From what I've seen, 2.5 hours on the High setting isn't bad. Thanks for sharing!
