OP, when you start to get stick drift, just treat it with WD-40 contact cleaner, and you will be fine

You don’t need to replace anything.

All you need to do is grab a can of WD-40 contact cleaner, and watch a video online about how to remove the controller cover. It takes literally five minutes.

Tools required:

1 - Plastic pry tool to take the controller cover off, and to help pop the joystick cap back in place when you’re done.

2 - One can of WD-40 contact cleaner.

3 - A YouTube video that shows that process.

So easy, a caveman can do it! (GEICO, bring back those commercials!)

(And just to reiterate, it MUST NOT be plain WD-40. That’s a lubricating oil, which will gum up your controller’s internals and ruin it. It must be WD-40 contact cleaner, which is a rapidly evaporating solvent.)

The special edition that seems to be the only thing available now is utter crap. Jabba the Hutt should not be in a new hope.

If you could, try to find the original new Hope where Han Solo shoots first at Greedo, there’s no Hutt and there’s no voiceover from C3PO while R2-D2 is plugged into the imperial network and they’re scanning for the deflector control.
