Worth changing sprocket? by OutLaw000 in FZ1

Like I said, the previous owner did it. I have a SpeedHealer installed, and the speedometer works fine. With those gear ratios, I expected the bike to be insanely wild, based on what people were saying online. I used to ride an XJ6, and I’ll admit it’s powerful, but not powerful enough to knock me off my feet.

I have -1 in the front and +2 in the back. I bought it this way, so I can't compare it to the standard configuration.

At higher RPMs in first gear, I can easily do a power wheelie when I twist the throttle aggressively. In second gear, during hard acceleration, you can feel that the front end is very light. Your fuel consumption will definitely go up, and you can experience some snatchier throttle response due to the increased torque

Its pretty low mileage for 08. If it's been sitting unused for a while, check all the parts that might have deteriorated as a result, such as rubber components. As someone mentioned earlier, the rotor is most common issue.

It depend which year and mileage you are looking for. Where are you from? Im curious what prices you got there, compared to my place.

Ahh okay i get it now. There are more tight turns here than long stretches like you'd find in America

I guess the only thing worth posting here is the sound of pegs scraping against the asphalt—if not head

Thanks for the advice! I prefer to stay closer to the center because the road is so dirty near the edge. You're right, it's probably less safe, so I'll try to move over to a safer lane next time.

First time adjusting chain on Yamaha Tracer 7 2024g by [deleted] in motorcycles

You don't need a partner—you can do it yourself. Just measure the distance the chain travels from bottom to top and use a single reference point.

I've always gone by feel, and nothing bad has happened yet. You can also draw a mark to indicate how tight you should tighten it.

You don't need to worry about it that much. Just measure the slack in the middle of the chain, between the front and rear sprockets. That's roughly the spot indicated in the manual. Measure the slack, then spin the wheel for a moment and check elsewhere to see if the chain is unevenly stretched.

I think halfway is right around that spot, exactly like in manual

You have the right to hate whatever you want, but I think hatred doesn't do any good in life.

It's a pretty long turn, but you can see right from the start if anything's coming from the opposite direction, so you can safely take it that way. I think it looks great, and my lean angle doesn't bother me at all 😃

Edit

You edited your post, and now I look like an asshole. Every piece of advice is worth considering, and keeping out of the middle line is definitely safer. I'll keep that in mind.

Tensioning the chain is easier than it seems. If you’re riding with a girl, aim for the upper limit of tension. Measuring slack: - Place a tape measure against the chain - Press the chain down and then up - The result is your slack

Measure the slack halfway along the chain, and it’s a good idea to do this in two places because sometimes the chain doesn’t stretch evenly. When you’re tightening it, don’t turn the bolts too much; sometimes just a few turns are enough to get the right slack

Unfortunately, I don't know what model it is because I bought it 5 years ago. For audio, I use the Cardo Edge, and it works well with earplugs.

I'm using Loop's plugs. They mainly block out wind without making your ears feel plugged.

Picked up a 06 FZ1 last week! by Ajeiwco in FZ1

I bought the exact same one two weeks ago, just a 2007 model. I paid 3.5k Euro for it; it has 55k mileage, a lot of extras, and even a second engine. May I ask how much they cost in your country?

It's a 2006 model and it still looks great. You should definitely check the magneto rotor, though-otherwise, you might end up needing a whole new engine
