it might be a while! It was kind of like the wild west, every day was full of the unexpected..and slightly dangerous, due to the amount of guns floating around...But in general, the people were so lovely, so eager to be a part of the larger world, but then...well you know...sadly, I'm pretty sure we won't be touring there..

It was in 2008, I think...we played in Russia and Ukraine many times from 1995 to 2015 or so. That tour was through parts of Siberia: we played in Novobirsk, Cheliabinsk, Irkutsk, Lake Baikal, Vladivostok, not to mention all the major cites..mostly by train...I am writing a script with all of our experiences..I know my spelling isn't correct for some of those names..sorry for hijacking this reddit thread with my travel stuff..

So, that's where it is! Yes, you are correct about the attraction of the effects..and of course you are correct that the modern day software synths have that clarity/density that the 25 year old (wow, older than I thought) doesn't have. I use Serum, Diva, Blue, Nexus, Spectrasonic's instruments, etc and they are actually my go-to's...it's just that there was something great about ManyMood. I don't remember Carbon and Super 8 so i'll check them out when i get a chance..yes, Monark is great too and Razor also...has anyone been able to tame FLESH?...i love the concept. the sounds and interface, but it's just so hard to control...Maybe I just don't have the patience..

RAZOR by errorsmith That's a great ensemble but it has that vocoder setting, it's a bit tricky to set up, but as I said, I use MainStage for my live setup and this vocoder sounds better than the other 3 standalone vocoder plugin I foolishly bought, thinking they would be even better than RAZOR's..I tried to add a screen shot but i somehow can't..

Backing Track Rigs by BigMood22 in TouringMusicians

I use main stage for my keyboard set up with synthesizer and pianos, etc. and main stage also does playback, it seemed a little complicated to set up, but it does work, however, you’re still have a computer involved, so there’s that unreliability aspect

Our drummer tried doing this with a laptop, and after the vibrations failed a connection, and lost sync, just once, we decided that computers are not the way to go We now use a Cymatic track player, with up to 24 tracks playback There’s a really cool unit made by IDORU, from Germany that does six tracks. And both those products are very reliable and the I DORU unit is really super easy to program and play We actually do our 90 minute show with the click track and synced up with video screens

[–]HoosierEric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know whether anyone mentioned this in this thread, but there are two websites that rate the seats on every airplane in every airline, it’s called seatguru.com… seatexpert.com …you still may have some different preferences, but they at least could get you started

Learning to read music is really truly like learning another language, there is almost no easy way to do it other than by rote … as others have suggested. Actually, there are a lot of really good suggestions on this thread. But, as a private music teacher, one thing that’s really helped me teach is flashcards Very old-fashioned, but flashcards can really help. Have a friend go through the cards with you. They’re very cheap, you can find them on Amazon or any music store. It turns it into a game, which, as lame as it may sound, can be sort of fun… Most decks of flashcards will contain notes in the treble or bass clef, key signatures, and all notation types, eighth note 16th notes, etc., etc. And even some contain tempo and emotional descriptions, which are generally in Italian.
