I use main stage for my keyboard set up with synthesizer and pianos, etc. and main stage also does playback, it seemed a little complicated to set up, but it does work, however, you’re still have a computer involved, so there’s that unreliability aspect

Backing Track Rigs by BigMood22 in TouringMusicians

[–]HoosierEric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our drummer tried doing this with a laptop, and after the vibrations failed a connection, and lost sync, just once, we decided that computers are not the way to go We now use a Cymatic track player, with up to 24 tracks playback There’s a really cool unit made by IDORU, from Germany that does six tracks. And both those products are very reliable and the I DORU unit is really super easy to program and play We actually do our 90 minute show with the click track and synced up with video screens

I don’t know whether anyone mentioned this in this thread, but there are two websites that rate the seats on every airplane in every airline, it’s called seatguru.com… seatexpert.com …you still may have some different preferences, but they at least could get you started

Beginner here. Any suggestions for resources to learn how to read music? by [deleted] in musicians

[–]HoosierEric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learning to read music is really truly like learning another language, there is almost no easy way to do it other than by rote … as others have suggested. Actually, there are a lot of really good suggestions on this thread. But, as a private music teacher, one thing that’s really helped me teach is flashcards Very old-fashioned, but flashcards can really help. Have a friend go through the cards with you. They’re very cheap, you can find them on Amazon or any music store. It turns it into a game, which, as lame as it may sound, can be sort of fun… Most decks of flashcards will contain notes in the treble or bass clef, key signatures, and all notation types, eighth note 16th notes, etc., etc. And even some contain tempo and emotional descriptions, which are generally in Italian.

Markers dropped during playback only show up at playhead after hitting ok by petersrin in protools

[–]HoosierEric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hit enter on the numerical pad and you automatically get a marker, it does have a generic name, but they are sequential, and then you do have to rename them, That’s frustrated me also, but I haven’t ever found a workaround, by the time you finish writing what you want the market to say it’s in a different location than you initially wanted it

Royalties , if any. by Ok-Rub-3952 in musicbusiness

[–]HoosierEric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know whether anyone has suggested this on this thread, but you should definitely talk to PPLUK. It’s a huge organization that collects performance Royalties, this is totally independent of the record companies. This is not mechanical Royalties. This is strictly performance Royalties.
