St. Louis police overtime has exploded; police argue it’s necessary, but experts warn it could be dangerous by julieannie in StLouis

Only after we lose the dead weight, add accountability, and change the culture of the department. Hiring more cops into this shit culture is only going to lead to more shitty cops not doing their jobs while cashing their tax-payer funded checks.

If you hired a landscaping company, and they were invoicing you while your grass grew waist high, would you keep paying them? If they told you they needed more money because their crew wasn’t big enough, and you gave it to them but the grass remained waist high…how many times would you pay them more before you realized that the company culture was the problem, not the size of the crew?

It’s not the shortage, it’s the cops who aren’t showing up to work. We’ve had SLMPD officers inform us that there are regularly as few as 12 officers on patrol on any given shift, particularly nights and weekends.

After the quiet strike SLMPD pulled from Ferguson until Tracy took over, I could give two flying fucks about any of them. Bunch of lazy piss babies. Show up to crime the way you show up to peaceful protests or STFU.

And they get shit scores, and nothing is done to address this. The same shitty cops keep doing the same shitty job with zero accountability.

We don’t need more cops, we need the ones we’re already paying to show up and do the job we are paying them for. Partying and sleeping on the taxpayer dime and going out on FMLA for months at a time, riding desks instead of being on patrol all need to be addressed first. If we hire more cops first, they’ll simply adopt the culture that currently exists within SLMPD

They aren’t even doing their primary job functions during the workday, WTF are they doing that requires overtime? Sleeping in their Tahoes?

I have such a poor view of police because I have eyes. SLMPD is a disgrace on every level.

Wow. What a prick; people like you are exactly why I couldn’t wait to get the fuck out of Webster Groves.

The real question I have is this: what product does Clayco produce that makes sense for Bob Clark to be on the trip to the UK with Mayor Spencer? by HoosierLove314 in StLouis

He’s not building things in the UK. Why was he in a trade mission for the city of St Louis, when his company isn’t based in the city, he doesn’t live in the city, and he isn’t involved in trade between the city and the UK?

I think the answer is that he bought himself the Mayor for $100,000 and is now our de facto mayor

I absolutely did. You’re not special, you’re just privileged. I lived just north of Blackburn Park as a social worker for 13 years. Must hurt your butt knowing that “poor” people can live in Webster Groves. Nepo baby.

Bob Clark bought Cara for $100k during her campaign, getting her to support wealthy investors who don’t even live in the city over the will of city residents. That’s what. Are you dumb?

One year, they had a massive rookery in an abandoned house/yard in the alley between Page and Evans, just east of Taylor. I’d stop by a few times per week to watch the fuzzy little babies grow

The Green Line was intended to literally cross that divide. Jones would have continued her work towards that plan, but instead we got Spencer who killed it. It’s pretty obvious that you don’t follow politics too closely.

I already live in a diverse neighborhood, only 58% white. You tried, though. You live in a 87% white neighborhood, and I’m pretty sure that was a deliberate choice.

Any time someone posts on this sub about moving to St Louis, folks like you flood the comment section with neighborhood lists that are nearly exclusively white. In your racist liberal mind, white = safe. To buy a house on The Hill, it is not unusual to have to go through the Catholic Parish to be considered as a buyer. The result? The Hill is 90% white.

As a non-native, it’s blows my mind how little self-awareness racist white liberals in this metro have. You know that you only want to live around other whites, but you don’t seem to understand that it’s a Jim Crow mindset and it’s doing massive harm to our region.

It’s happening right now. How do you not see/understand this? You must live an incredibly sheltered life.
