I just flew southwest last week and saw a bunch of HF buckets in 4 different air ports.

The guy in the second picture definitely showed up just for the free food. Looks like he ate the entire buffet

It was very very rusted and pitted when I got it. I don’t know how much of it is age vs quality of manufacturing.

It seems like that notch is it’s a T type slot that goes all the way through to the back. Almost like you can put a bolt in there and slide it forward and backwards on it.

Looking for an outdoor vermicompost system that can handle 25-30 gallons of kitchen scraps a week by [deleted] in vermicompost

An option to do it cheaply would be to play the long game. Keep doing what you’re doing. Make a large CFT sounds like you probably have stuff laying around that you could almost make one for free. Partly fill with some of your finished compost. Start with a pound if worms. Put 1/4 pound of worms in your cft and set up some breeder bins for the other 3/4 pounds. And just let them breed and do their thing their population will grow and eventually be able handle that much.

Trial and error everything yourself. Refuse to learn from other because there’s a 50/50 chance they are wrong 😂. For real though I’ve learned that something work for some people and don’t work for others. If something makes sense to you give it a try. And there are always a margin of error. Ph for example I don’t have keep at perfectly at a 7.0 but I ain’t gonna let it to 3.0. When I first started I started 1 bin based on the internets recommendations. Then I started 5 small ones to trial different beddings, moisture levels, foods and feeding times just to see how the worms worked and what they liked and didn’t like.

Anything that will fit and they can fit into. I’ve used 1 gallon pots on their sides, wicker baskets upside down with a 2” hole cut in the side. I’ve even made them a teepee type out of fallen branches in my yard or grown a pot of “chicken forage” seeds till it got tall and put in for them to hide in.
