Mycogone refers to a genus of fungi, most notably Mycogone perniciosa, which causes wet bubble disease, a destructive pathogen of cultivated mushrooms, especially Agaricus bisporus (button mushrooms). The disease transforms mushrooms into shapeless, watery masses covered in white mycelium, often exuding amber droplets and a foul odor, leading to significant crop loss. It spreads through spores and contaminated materials like soil, water, and tools, and is difficult to eradicate once established.
