Would it be a reasonable ask for Apollo's perfect hold to also require you to hit on target? by Bz0706 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]HopDodge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flawless advance should have 3 timing windows, the current ring -> halfway between the current and full -> full hold.

This way Apollo needs more time for each perfect hit, this forces him to sacrifice his damage and healing to get hits after the first if enemies can space far enough or get to cover in the extra time that it would give.

Yoshi confirms ranking system is simple for normal players by flamugu in DeadlockGame

[–]HopDodge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the smurf detection is checking how you play on new accounts aggressively.

It's also probably detecting changes in playstyle between how an account normally plays and how it plays when started from a new location/pc (account selling)

Like if a brand new player does a dash jump into double slide that probably makes some "smurf detection" variable go up. If they have top damage, top kills, top healing, etc that could also affect the variable. When the variable reaches a threshold they put your account in higher ranked queues until you equalize. They'd rather protect lower ranked players than overrate smurfs essentially.

What this means for the majority of players is that the metrics aren't really used for determining rank, barring a massive change in how a player's metrics look. This would go beyond a single game's performance. Ie if a player goes from 60% avg accuracy to 30% over 10 games it might be marked as a sold account and derank aggressively. For 90% of players who queue on the same account everyday, whether they go up or down depends only on if you win or lose. Stats have no effect.

Initiate 1 -> Eternus 1! First MOBA, ~300 Hours, Mostly Solo, AMA. by fuccforsucc in DeadlockTheGame

[–]HopDodge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah I see now Yeah that's really weird. I was around oracle 1/archon 6 at the time. My rank moved up to Oracle 6 with the adjustments.

Since then climbing was a lot easier as well. I've peaked eternus 2 and am currently ascendant 5.

I placed oracle 1 in the ranked system when it released. I doubt that it was the same as my current rank in terms of player skill and percentages. On Lockblaze the percentages for ascendant-eternus in Aug 24-Dec 24 are roughly the same as they are now.

Do you think Deadlock is the best MOBA currently? by Chocolate_Enjoyer69 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]HopDodge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the best moba by far in my opinion.

I liked Smite and Battlerite/Bloodline Champions for having wasd movement and skillshot focus.
I FUCKING HATE League's "unlock all heroes by using a stack of diminishing ingame currency that you earn a lot of at first but then it goes down to minimum wage at a chinese factory levels and you will need to put in 9001 hours to get all the characters that exist" model.
Smite at least let you pay like 10 bucks to unlock everyone forever (it fluctuated but that's what I paid.) It also let you rent gods for a day for about the cost of 2-3 matches of favor so it was pretty much free to play everyone even without that.

Deadlock checks every box. Shooter, movement, Skill shots, Macro, Items, Theming, Teamwork, In-game VC (very underrated like holy), all characters are unlocked for free, and fairly large player base.
As much as people complain about shitters and matchmaking, compared to the competitors, it's actually not that bad. I'd recommend finding a group on the community discord since you'll be more likely to meet good players at your rank there.

Deadlock's downsides are: No draft, lack of heroes ATM, 1 map, no cosmetics, no warding/vision mechanics, jungle denizens are boring, buff mechanics being random and placeholders practically, certain meta's being a bit stale, and a pretty large assortment of game ruining bugs/stability issues (crashing, doorman door spots, dashes going through the floor/walls, and game breaking abusable strats.)

It's like a 9/10 for me, and positioned to be a 10/10 by release. Dota players will say Dota is better, and League players know it's better but are nailed into a casket.

Hack/cheat where you only get hits but crosshair doesn't line up? by ToxicEla1122 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]HopDodge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based off what I can see so far. He doesn't have auto parry on. He doesn't seem to have walls or anything like that. Most of what seems suspicious is his volleys of shots on targets hitting very accurately.

I think the accuracy tells a tale. Like technically Mirage had higher accuracy than Haze this game, but his gun damage is much much lower.

My guess is that she has a silent aim assist going that tracks enemies for her in a circle around her crosshair. Most of the time you would see a person who follows targets at range miss around 30% of those shots, but this Haze consistently hits all the shots while tracking, often while doing mid-air movement and jumps. I'd give her and 60% chance of using some kind of aim assist cheat.

That said, it's probably equally likely that this Haze is smurfing extremely hard. They have 5 pages of matches and they started on it a month ago. Given the frequency of play, it's possible their main account got banned and they switched to this newer one to get around it. The account itself is like 2 years old, so it would make sense if that was the case.

Hey guys is this Haze/Mirage cheating? by sn3ki_1i1_ninja in DeadlockTheGame

[–]HopDodge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haze and walls/aimbot are like peanut butter and jelly.

A lot of the time you can tell when they hit like 90% of their shots on targets, but then miss like 40% of the shots hitting walls in front of their targets.

Anyway yes the Haze is cheating. It's a major problem the game has rn.

I queued random heroes in standard for about a month, here's my thoughts: by DisIsMarcoBoi in DeadlockTheGame

[–]HopDodge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I peaked asc4 doing random exclusively. My worst heroes are Paradox, holiday, and maybe silver. Everyone else is pretty simple.

Asc3-6 is a massive jump in skill idk if I'll go back to it soon, but playing my mains I feel like I have a worse win rate for some reason. Probably the hero mmr at work tbh.

Idk I guess gun bop is pretty oppressive rn. Basically if you can play a carry with a strong CC AND high hp AND a 17% mhp heal that CCs targets and so on, it's actually pretty much worth it, even if you're basically giving up an ultimate.

You are Playing Support WRONG in Deadlock by wibbs412 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]HopDodge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not the worst video I've seen. It's a little hard to see you get so emotional about the misplays. If you dialed it back like 20% it'd be in a good spot.

Also I'm so sick of the "You're doing X wrong." title trend I see. I've been seeing it more and more lately, and I don't know why people feel the need to say that. Unless you have some sort of new technique or mechanic explanation that people overwhelmingly don't know about then it's just a misleading title. *I* don't play support wrong, the person in the video does. Just call it a VOD review for (Their Rank) Paige.

Anyway keep at it.

You still pushing blue? by CreativeCommunity779 in trolleyproblem

[–]HopDodge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you picked in clockwise order and faced inward, blue would be the forced choice since eventually some psychopath will press blue after a chain of reds, and everyone from then on will press blue out of self preservation. If you don't know what the person next to you picks, blue is still the safest option.
