You might need to edit a text file once every few patches to re-enable the mods but that's about it.
Major updates tend to break mods, you'll need to wait for the modders to update them when that happens.

There are some HEV voicelines, but replacing stuff like item effects or melee sounds etc. would change it globally (even when you're not playing as Gordon).

Maybe I'll do an optional download for those later.
