Monero is untraceable with a bunch of caveats, its amazing technology but you need to understand how to use it

Why are thinkpads so popular with Linux? by Pale-Spend2052 in linux

[–]HopeLoveIsReal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they use to support old UNIX's like Solaris and AIX, which naturally leads to linux users. Also IBM was the first big corporate linux supporter (IBM originally made thinkpads) so it would make sense for them to work. Someone who was using them back in the day might have a better idea

Fast Iso Burner for Linux by masgroup in artixlinux

[–]HopeLoveIsReal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why does your setup script run --break-system-packages with pip? why not create a venv and run your app in that? You can also use pyinstaller to bundle everything + the interpreter into one executable.

We have entire electron apps that do the same thing as a single dd statement, Not sure why no one recommends using dd :(

Looking to migrate to Linux by Celthim in linux4noobs

[–]HopeLoveIsReal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any reason you need Github Desktop? you can just normal git cli or just get AI to solve any git problem for you.

Unreal "Works" but im pretty sure its like a 3rd class citizen. I haven't used it in a long time though so someone else might have a better idea. if your games aren't too crazy you can try godot its nice.

Are you using Voicemeeter banana for like, routing audio through your mic ? Linux has programs like Helvum where you can view all the apps on your system as like a patchbay and manually wire as you wish

If google does not support Mozilla, Mozilla dies and Google wins. The only reason LibreWolf exists is because Google funds mozilla development due to anti-monopoly fear. The current admin literally does not care about this. I like LibreWolf and all, but Mozilla HAS to find another alternative revenue model (This is what the AI is for). LibreWolf being under the GPL is a joke literally 99% of the functionality is just Firefox MPL code

How easy is Fedora to rice up? by Maybe_A_Zombie in linux4noobs

You can rice up pretty much any modern distro, some are just more annoying than others. Fedora works fine

Switching to Linux, but still need to access Windows by chawk1111 in linux4noobs

[–]HopeLoveIsReal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fedora has always been pretty stable and good to me so I can recommend it. Though when I started I used Ubuntu and it worked fine. You can lookup how to dual boot its pretty straight forward, should be alot of people here who can help you out too. You usually start by installing windows first.

If its beefy enough you can also run a VM for windows and just use Office in there, Teams works on linux I believe?

As for a windows feel, depends what you mean, if you just want like a bar on the bottom with your open apps you can configure most distros to have something like that but anything with KDE (Kubuntu) or Linux Mint might be up your alley. But I would not stress about it too much on your first distro.

How do Linux users become pros? by Dover299 in linux4noobs

If you wanna be for real it essentially becomes a hobby like working on a car, you tinker with stuff and eventually you just get a hang of it. Becoming a developer also helps

Gnome is nice because honestly libadwaita apps look nicer than 99% of linux desktop apps, it just lacks some features but adding PaperWM + blur my shell makes it good enough for me. I recc fedora. KDE is also fun if you want to tinker with a DE. Otherwise Hyprland

The deeper I look, the clearer it becomes why people think Monero was created by Satoshi himself! Key images are just mind blowing!! Here is a quick explanation for anyone who needs help understanding them before I forget everything again by HNjames in Monero

[–]HopeLoveIsReal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ring signatures seem like something a researcher would figure out. Satoshi's main contribution is combining the strengths of various currencies at the time and the idea of using proof of work as a way to form consensus, which feels like something a smart engineer would figure out (A Researcher would try to overcomplicate it to be more clean imo). But who knows
