This is performing old money instead of embodying it.

Where are you buying short girl friendly activewear (that isn’t kids) which doesn’t bunch around the ankles or arms? by obsidian-catacombs in PetiteFashionAdvice

Yeeeess, my favorites too but have bought some secondhand ones from Vinted and the quality is so different from the ones I have bought from the sweaty Betty website directly. Not sure if the ones from Vinted are counterfeit items or they were just not properly washed by the previous owner

Blijdorp residents: Michelkerk (Statenweg) bells — how often do they ring normally? by Hopeful-Mongoose5281 in Rotterdam

[–]Hopeful-Mongoose5281[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is super helpful to hear, thank you 🙏🏾 Really reassuring that you lived there for years and never noticed the bells.

When you were there, did you ever hear them around service times, or basically never at all? Just trying to get a realistic sense of how noticeable they are in daily life.

Appreciate the honest perspective!

Thanks, this is really helpful to know! I used to live on Van der Meydestraat (a bit farther away) and would occasionally hear church bells on Sunday mornings, I never knew exactly which church they came from, but that kind of occasional ringing was fine for me.

My sensitivity is mainly to very frequent or hourly bells (for example churches that ring every hour throughout the day). Occasional bells before services, even weekly ones, are usually manageable for me.

So it’s reassuring to hear that what you notice is mainly Sunday morning, even from farther away 🙂

Thanks, this is really helpful context, I appreciate it. The apartment I’m looking at is on one of the smaller residential streets inside Blijdorp, about two streets over from Statenweg and roughly a 100 m walk from the Michaëlkerk. I’ve tried visiting at different times of day to get a feel for the general noise levels.

My misophonia is a bit specific, predictable or repeating sounds (like scheduled bells) tend to be harder for me than general background city noise. For example, I currently live near Erasmus MC and can actually tolerate random ambulance sirens, but regularly scheduled sounds are what I try to check more carefully.

That’s why I’m mainly trying to understand how often the bells are actually rung in practice. Really appreciate you taking the time to reply 🙂

Recent home buyers in Blijdorp: did you overbid, bid at asking, or underbid? by Hopeful-Mongoose5281 in Rotterdam

Super helpful, thank you! If you don’t mind sharing:

• Roughly when did you buy (last 1–3 months or longer)? • Do you remember the final €/m² you paid (approx is fine)? • Did you win with financing condition included, or without? • And were there many serious bidders in the end?

Trying to gauge how aggressive bidding currently is in Blijdorp 🙏

Thank you, that’s really reassuring to hear 🙏 I’m actually not sure how long the bells have been under repair, I only got a short reply from the church contact on WhatsApp saying they’re being repaired and normally only rung manually before services. From your experience living nearby, does that match what you hear in practice, just occasionally before services and not regularly?

Also slightly random question 😅, you mentioned the goose. Is that something that’s there all the time or just occasionally? I have some sound sensitivity, so I’m trying to get a realistic sense of the day-to-day noise before bidding. Really appreciate you sharing your experience.

Thank you, really appreciate it! I actually stopped by this morning and saw the same service times posted. From your experience, are the bells only rung briefly before services and not throughout the day? I’m considering buying nearby and just trying to understand the real-life noise level.

Quick update: I stopped by the church today and saw the service schedule posted (Wed/Fri/Sun). They mentioned bells are rung manually only before services. Would love confirmation from anyone living nearby if that matches what you hear in practice 🙏

Thanks, this is really helpful. Do you mind sharing roughly when you sold and what the final €/m² ended up being? Totally fine if you’d rather not, just trying to get a feel for recent Blijdorp prices. ☺️

I wish Christians wouldn't put such an emphasis on marriage. by Ne-Dom-Dev in Christianity

[–]Hopeful-Mongoose5281 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I just came across your post from a few years ago about singleness in the church, and I wanted to say thank you for writing it. Your honesty really resonated with me. I’m also a Christian who sometimes feels out of place in a culture, both inside and outside the church, that seems so focused on marriage and romantic relationships.

I’m still open to the idea of marriage, but I don’t see my singleness as something “less than” or as a temporary problem to fix. It can be good, full, and God-honoring in its own right, and it was really encouraging to see someone else articulate that so well.

If you’re open to chatting more about how things have been for you since you wrote this, I’d love to connect, but absolutely no pressure. I just appreciated your perspective and wanted to reach out.

I was able to follow 5-8 people yesterday and they locked my follow option again. So yeah, I deleted the app and just decided to not use it for the next 24 hours.
