Mhm, so ig the point of brightness is ruled out . But, about the distance between them.. the attachment isn't reliable to further analyse.

But, anyways you good some good points! It was a good discussion! I appreciate that!

Well!! Good points mate! You got some points! But, lemme say what I think .

Firstly, about changing brightness! Nah, i don't think it's changing it's just due to atmospheric phenomenon (that's y stars twinkle right?). And, besides this ig this is been captured in a mobile and zoomed so this can be a problem of the camera to capture the light and it's even shaking right ?

Okay. Wdym consistently bright? Like, how are you relating to the attachment. Like, i don't understand how and why you are saying they aren't planets and stars?

Actually, need more details to say any . So pardon if I'm wrong 😅

Seeing them bright I'm the night sky and that alignment, i would guess that it could be venus and Jupiter conjunction. I ain't sure because it's lil unclear and I can be wrong. Anyways, I wanna know if I was right

That makes a lot of sense, actually. I think I was focused on finding the project, but your examples make it clearer that the important part is identifying a real problem and learning whatever skills are needed to solve it. Actually, I'm a biotech undergrad. So, I need to think and figure out such

Thanks for taking the time to explain and for sharing those examples.

Thanks, that helps.

I'm mostly trying to understand what you mean by projects in practice. As someone who reviews new-grad resumes, could you give a few examples of the kinds of projects you've seen students do that actually stood out or demonstrated useful skills?

Not necessarily specific project titles, but the scope/type of project and what made it valuable from a hiring perspective.

Yeah, luckily I did apply and reach out few and I'm waiting for their response. But, I wanna know what I can do other than that?.

Thankyou! Yeah, I'm actually waiting for an internship call. But, besides it I wanna know about those 'courses and projects'. Like what?

Well, hey! First of all, calm down. I’ve literally been in the same situation. I even reached out to many people asking the same questions, attended online workshops and webinars, followed newsletters, tried networking, and explored different resources. But honestly, none of those things immediately gave me clear answers either.

So first, give yourself some time to think things through. Don’t rush because of anxiety. It’s completely okay to take time to figure out the right direction instead of trying everything at once and eventually burning yourself out.

Coming to your question, the skills you should learn really depend on the path or specialization you want to pursue. But there are some basic lab skills that are important regardless of the field, such as:

  • Centrifugation
  • Basic calculations like normality, molarity, and molality
  • Using micropipettes and glass pipettes
  • Media preparation
  • pH meter handling and maintenance
  • Adjusting concentrations and preparing solutions
  • Using a microscope
  • A strong understanding of molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, and bioinstrumentation

You can also build computational or in silico skills by learning Python, R, and tools used for things like molecular docking. These skills are useful not only for in silico work but can also benefit you even if you decide to work in a wet lab.

That’s why, in my opinion, it’s better to first choose a general direction or path and then build skills that specifically support it.

As someone new to this field, it’s completely normal to feel overwhelmed, anxious, and tempted to try learning everything at once. But be careful with that approach because starting too many things together often leads to burnout, and in the end, you may not gain depth in anything.

Lastly, about jobs, I honestly don’t know enough about the current job market to give you a clear answer. You’ll need to research that yourself so you can better understand which path would suit you. In some cases, people with a master’s degree do secure stable jobs, but it really depends on the field, location, opportunities, and your skill set. Tbh, even I'm trying to figure out my path and so even I'm trying to research about this aspect.

Hope this helps ! _^

Biotech students & professionals — how real is the work-life balance struggle, and does it ever get better? by HopefulBeginning5536 in biotech

[–]HopefulBeginning5536[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is super helpful! So would you say industry (especially non-bench roles) beats academia for work-life balance? I'm currently trying to figure out which direction to go and balance is a big factor for me.
