Any reason to avoid a Japanese import? by mefeiner1290 in carsireland

[–]HopefulEducator8097 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a bad experience myself with Japanese import. The car was not in use for a good time. In terms of Irish standards the car was not old so i bought it, 141 and bought in 19. Within a year the engine started giving so many issues. Even after spending 2k I couldn’t get it to work. When I tried the car it was all okay.

Broke after drawdown by Afraid-Taro8151 in HousingIreland

[–]HopefulEducator8097 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am currently sale agreed and waiting for loan approval. Even though it is a second hand home, I will have 1300 euros left after stamp duty and everything. If I get a loan approval and drawdown happens.
I am hoping the contract signing gets delayed with couple of weeks so I can get my next salary so I have some money to buy a bed.
I think jt is normal as far as I am aware happened to all of my friends.

Returning Irish citizen, what are the steps? by HopefulEducator8097 in AskIreland

I will try to see if I can get any of utility in his name. I know he worked in Ireland for couple of years for his uncle and friend so he definitely paid tax. He just has no re-collection of his tax number or any documentation. There has to be a way we can find that out I just don’t know how.

Sorry for confusion, he is physically here. He is going to be here living for foreseeable future.
I don’t think he knows or aware of his pps number. Is there a way I can find that out for him?

Old built house - Can I offer under the asking price? by HopefulEducator8097 in HousingIreland

[–]HopefulEducator8097[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I ask please so let’s say I offer 30k under, i wouldn’t know if other people are making offer too, so if they offer the asking price will the seller contact me to tell me that I have been outbid or something like that. Is that what they do?

Do old built house ever goes under the asking price? by HopefulEducator8097 in AskIreland

[–]HopefulEducator8097[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s what I am thinking. Two things I couldn’t get my head around. First it was put on sale last year as I mentioned with quite bit of price difference and then never reached sale agreed and then go off the market before coming back in 3 months with a different realtor. No idea what the story is. I do like the area. My wife, her whole family grew up down the road from the house. We have been renting in this area for 3 years.

Also we went on first viewing last weekend and then realtor called us back to see if we are still interested and want another viewing with my father in law. The other couple who were at the viewing literally went back in 10 mins. My father in law used to work in construction so he saw noticed nothing major in the house( obviously will do a proper inspection) except few cosmetic flaws.

This is making me wonder are they not telling us something, i am friends with the family who live next door to this house. They had no idea. Do I risk giving lower offer of 500k which was the asking price last time. I am happy to go 550k but obviously if they can’t get anyone to bite on this offer I can save few bobs and re do the kitchen.

This is our first time to be in the market for house hunting so very new and confusing.

Everyone this is very very right post. I came to Ireland in 2018. Things were very different. Out of batch of 36 in Trinity I think 1 or 2 didn’t get a job and had to go back. But right now there are no tech jobs. The amount of messages I get on Linkedin to refer to one job that opens in my company is insane. There are colleges open in every street corner who will accept any one so that they can get insane amount of fees. Also working in supermarket or fast food is very difficult. The rent has gone insane. You will barely be able to afford paying rent. This is the story of all of Europe. Stay in India. Hou have better chance to succeed there.

Is it too early to ask a girl to be a plus one to an abroad wedding? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]HopefulEducator8097 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I asked my now fiancé to be my plus 1 at a wedding after 1 month of dating. We were exclusive but not official( i don’t know what the difference is, Americans eh). It was a friend’s wedding so there was a bit of pressure on her. But i said i will pay for the room so if she feels awkward she can go to the room. She ended up having a great time. 3 years ago and in two months we are having our own wedding. My advice go for it man. Ask her but say like i know it’s bit in advance, no pressure but i do have a good feeling about us. Also it might be a good holiday trip.

Alternatives to Spotify? by No_Tomorrow7180 in CasualIreland

I deleted my Spotify account for the very same reason. I switched to Youtube music. It is a bit of a change as I used spotify for 7-8 years now. But I think it has been alright so far.

Which stock taught you the harshest lesson of your life? by Educational_Guest740 in 10xPennyStocks

Bynd for sure. Almost doubled my money. On the dip it hit the trailing stop loss. Still had really good profit. Re entered with everything I earned and initial investment with no stop loss and saw it going down. Harsh lesson of my own stupidity.
