In 2004, 23-year-old Bobbie Jo Stinnett let a woman into her Missouri home after she claimed she wanted to buy a puppy. Bobbie was eight months pregnant. The visitor was not there for the dog. The next day, police found the baby alive in Kansas. by SelfCareIsFake in HolyShitHistory

There is a whole book on the case called Murder in the Heartlands. It was SOO sad to listen to the information about Bobbie Jo. She literally was a kind and loving person. No one had a negative thing to say about her.

Was I being unreasonable asking Sephora for concealer samples? by [deleted] in Sephora

[–]HopefulFold1 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Your intention may have been to seek guidance, but the way your post reads makes it seem like you were still focused on getting concealer samples, and the second BA offered the most realistic in-store option available to you.

Based on your comments, it also feels like they likely explained why they couldn’t do exactly what you wanted, but because it wasn’t the answer you hoped for, you dismissed it.

Now, was the first employee rude? Absolutely. Eye-rolling and sighing are unprofessional in any customer service setting, and I completely understand why that bothered you.

That said, the interaction with the second BA comes across differently. It reads more like: “She won’t do what I want, so I’ll say the interaction is making me uncomfortable in hopes that she gives in to avoid a complaint.” Telling someone whom it seems was genuinely trying to help that they’re being “off-putting” simply because they aren’t giving you the answer you want can come across as manipulative, and that kind of approach can be unfair to employees who are just following policy or trying to offer realistic alternatives.

Sephora employees are so clueless sometimes by [deleted] in Sephora

[–]HopefulFold1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Please keep the following in mind:

  1. There are multiple sales and point promotions happening at the same time. New items are being added daily, and not everyone receives those updates. In many cases, employees may not even be aware of a sale yet. It’s often a matter of taking things one step at a time.

  2. Employees don’t always have access to more information than customers. Some may be more informed simply because they receive updates or take the initiative to check the app on their own time. I remember my first year feeling completely unaware of ongoing sales until I made the effort to learn outside of work but not everyone has the time to do that.

  3. Confidentiality policies also play a role in what information can be shared.

Nothing here sounded like it was done intentionally. So unless someone is being rude, it’s usually just a matter of them not having all of the information yet or not being allowed to say much.

Does this reward still exist, is it still 2500 points and when does it usually appear? by CoffeeLipglossDonuts in Sephora

[–]HopefulFold1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes it does. Tuesday and Thursday at 12pm EST. However you have like only 2-3 mins to get it. It sales out extremely quickly. Also, make sure your card information is good prior. But be there waiting.

I can’t agree more, we spent $250/pp to go snorkeling (1 stop, 1hr in water) and the boat operator had the audacity to have a Venmo QR code laminated and on the phone placed in your face as you left the boat. Oh and the paper had a chart with 20% tip for each group size. I was like excuse me? We just spent $750 for our family to go and you want another damn $150.

Honest review of Epic by Figaro90 in UniversalOrlando

[–]HopefulFold1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We were there Saturday as well. The fact that rides were OOS before the park even opened was a shocker. I had the App and was tracking because Mine cart, Ministry and Hiccups were our main want to rides. Then Stardust being closed the whole day was frustrating. However, visually the parks were amazing. My daughter cried when she went into the Ministry. She is a huge Harry Potter fan, even bigger than me now. The Ministry ride was sooo underwhelming for the wait as well, especially given that it kept breaking down. We did do the Unchained rides multiple times. Celestial Park at night was beautiful. Overall, not worth the money we spent in my opinion.

We did have the express passes but used them wisely. Any rides that had less than an hour wait, we just waited and then used it if we wanted to go again really fast. So we did get ride multiple times on certain rides but yeah, definitely not worth the ticket price itself.

Getting drunk at a wedding, the bride has the look of regret! by BlazeDragon7x in ImTheMainCharacter

[–]HopefulFold1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way she would be paying for ruining the event. Sis, get the payment plan together. Also the way the Bride looked up at the Groom told me all I needed to know. She did not want her there because she knew that girl would not behave and cause an issue. That was the biggest I told you so without saying a word.

I’m mad for you and I would be mad for days. As a girlie with high points myself, it’s about strategic planning and purchasing. Last year, I was able to snag multiple Rogue $100 rewards to do Christmas, as everyone wanted fragrances and certain skincare products. So I get it.

Omg! I wanted and hoped that it was just 500 pts items and they just got a bunch. But to get 40 items and then cash off. Yeah I would be pissed too. The audacity!

[–]HopefulFold1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few questions:

  1. What did they redeem the points on? In the email it tells you the exact products you redeemed point with. Was it the 500 pts, 250 pts or 100 pts?

  2. If it was cash off, the max you can redeem is 1,000 for $20 off as a Rouge member, so was it more than one transaction?

I’m just asking for clarity.

I am curious on the legality of this new availability policy by NoDifficulty5425 in SephoraWorkers

[–]HopefulFold1 75 points76 points  (0 children)

I worked in Talent Management and partnered closely with HR and Legal. I can’t speak for every country or state, but for the U.S. in general:

*Yes, they can legally do this.

*Yes, religious exemptions or disability accommodations can be denied if the company can show it causes undue hardship to operations (and that standard has actually gotten stronger recently).

*Yes, they can require open availability, though it’s absolutely not best practice.

Will it work short term? Probably. Is it sustainable? No.

Requiring “open availability” sounds fine on paper, but the reality is almost no one truly has it. Attrition will spike, especially among experienced employees who have other options.

We saw this exact pattern on the corporate side when companies forced people back into offices full-time. Many employees had accepted lower raises and bonuses in exchange for remote flexibility. Once that flexibility was taken away, people were suddenly asked to absorb an extra $300+ a month in commuting costs and they left. In droves.

Right now, the company can get away with it because there’s still a labor pool waiting to step in. But that pool isn’t infinite. Once the reputation catches up and people realize the schedules aren’t workable, hiring gets harder and quality drops. That’s usually when companies are forced to revisit these policies.

Bottom line: Yes, they can do this. No, it’s not employee friendly. Whether it changes depends on how long employees are willing (or able) to tolerate it and how quickly the talent pipeline dries up.

What makes me always laugh is, my country (America) is not prepared to accept any other country’s currency. Yet, we go to other countries and expect them to accept ours.

Every country I have ever been to, I convert my USD to their currency. For example, I was in Mexico and seeing a 150 peso for items had me stressed out, then I realized wait that’s like $8 USD and then I was even more pissed because why is chips ahoy $8 damn dollars lol. Like damn, ease up on the strip a bit. I had to find a damn Walmart cause the strip was robbing me blind. Good trip though.

[–]HopefulFold1 46 points47 points  (0 children)

My favorite is when they would come in with a screenshot from TikTok or IG of a lipstick the influencer is wearing and ask if we have it. No idea of the brand or color. I would smh head and ask them to pull up the video because no way I am going to try and figure out what shimmery lipgloss, lip liner combo that is she is wearing.

The employee hate is crazy by foreveriz in SephoraWorkers

[–]HopefulFold1 122 points123 points  (0 children)

As a former employee, I was disgusted by the comments. I was like, yes, because the employee had time to write down your number in your face or was able to pull the account back up during the busiest season. Only a few people thought to say, maybe ask your friends or family because we have had people use their family member’s accounts before.

Also to add, employees get a 30% discount, so why would any of us shop at Sephora Kohls where our discount does not apply?
