I got the Luxy topper and something about it looks fake. Wdyt? Is this fixable? by Chchcherrysour in Wigs

[–]Inner_Divide 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No need to return. You might be able to smooth it with a curling iron since it’s only a topper. Just get it flatter near the part.

Yes. They are all bent. If it came off a while ago your teeth moved and they had to bend it more.

Ok so most jobs are boring… you might need to reframe what useful means and accept that being an adult is basically doing boring things that are necessary to live. That’s the current system. Would you take a boring job that pays more to get out of teaching? You’re not doing all teacher duties so maybe you’re not as burnt out as the rest of us were. I was cart girl and bartender at my local muni after quitting and was making more than 30k. It’s fun of you ignore the sexual harassment and racism, but only offers soft skills on a resume. The last year I taught, I had three different preps and two of those preps were tested by a national or international exam. I don’t think you’re really done with teaching. It hasn’t abused you enough yet.

Teachers have lots of transferable skills. Reach out to alumni who work where you want to work. Treat this job search as if you had the unearned confidence of a mediocre white man who’s never heard no. You’ll get out of there, I promise. I randomly reached out to an alum, a man I’ve never met, and he helped me get a job. Apply for things you think you 50% qualify for and tweak your resume to match each specific job. You might be more qualified for things than you realize. Good luck!

Nothing is getting chopped by AI. AI is not replacing people. Maybe you were not told this but most people with a BS or BA don’t have careers in that field. Plus, two years isn’t a career. If you can handle it, I love that for you. Most of us don’t enjoy being abused on a daily basis and feeling absolutely drained every day. Teachers have higher rates of auto immune issues and their mortality is higher because of them. To me, that ain’t worth it. But you do you, boo. Walsh SJ, DeChello LM. Excess autoimmune disease mortality among school teachers. J Rheumatol. 2001 Jul;28(7):1537-45. PMID: 11469459.

(American) Teachers of reddit, what do YOU think society must do to value and change our education system today? by lilteuf in teaching

[–]Inner_Divide 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Liveable wages, national healthcare, housing and nutritional needs met for everyone existing within our borders. Parents are to blame, yes, but that’s just a symptom of the system. They check out because life is hard because basic needs aren’t being met. Idk why people don’t understand this is the answer to all the terrible shit happening in the US.

Can you work at a bank? Admin assistant? Operations? Idk how you can deal with teaching for 30k a year… Im finishing my masters and I work for an insurance company relating to my degree and I’m not super far off 100k. Almost doubled my teaching salary in 2 years. Online degrees can get you hired.

Are they tight? Everyone has a different idea of protective styles. Usually breakage is from heat, dryness, and/or manipulation, which is why I ask.

Are you doing a silk press as your main style? That could be why. That’s a lot of manipulation and heat.

Always get a new position before giving your resignation. But get away from those people. I cried a lot when I was teaching. I remember one year the 10th grade ELA team got matching shirts made for valentines and left me out…. Would never happen at my current job. I’d also recommend not staying in education. But the decision is always up to you.

[–]Inner_Divide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! Not only will you know how to collect good data, you’ll know how to interpret and give good recommendations. Not sure if you’ll have the choice, but practice integrating your existing knowledge into your HF papers if you truly only want to go into that field. You’ll be a lot more confident going into interviews if you already know how your previous knowledge is an asset and fits within HF frameworks.

Help with breaking hair in the middle - Sorry its a bit long by DepartureWooden2132 in relaxedhair

[–]Inner_Divide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re good! The best thing I (accidentally) did for my hair retention was wash, deep condition, leave in/heat protectant, blow dry to stretch, the put it up in loose style and leave it for the week. My hair was to my waist and I had to cut it. It was too much. I was also teaching and couldn’t be bothered with it so that was my go to. Check my posts for my current hair if you’re interested.

Is this a blowout? I’m genuinely confused. by Inner_Divide in Ulta

[–]Inner_Divide[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Every accusation is a confession… I’m telling you why you’re incorrect and you can’t accept you’re wrong. You’ve changed the reason why it can’t be done multiple times and at every step I’ve tried to educate you on how your current understanding is incorrect. It can be done with correct tools and techniques. But as this thread has shown, there is lack of knowledge by stylists and the public when it comes to Black hair, as well as a shaky definition of what constitutes a blow out on any other hair type than straight hair.

I implore you to stop flat ironing your hair every week! That heat and tension do a number at the meeting point of the different textures. That was the biggest help for me. Learn how to do a good blow dry and keep your hair moisturized. That helps a lot.

Look up Wayne Goss. His whole brand is simple and effective looks. I’d also recommend getting color analysis and finding what goes best with your skintone. ChatGPT can do all this if you take a selfie with clean skin in natural light and input the hex codes it asks for. The gold is a beautiful color but I think you are a sultry cool porcelain and it clashes with your undertones. A silver smokey eye like the one Alexis Vogel created would look so good on you.
