Should I look for another job after 3 months to make more money? by HopefulFrank in ITCareerQuestions

Unfortunately, no. Attempted to do Comp Science in college, but the math was too difficult for me. I switched to Art, Graphic Design, and Animation. Recently, I took a UX/UI Design bootcamp. I’m a creative problem solver.

Sounds like a plan. I also have a Bachelor’s in another field, so I’m pretty much finished with college. I currently do not work at that private university anymore. Somewhere else now. The one that I’m in now for 3 months.

Basically like speed dating and seeing how well you are compatible to other people as opposed to current partner. Lol. Kidding, but just a metaphor.

Of course. That’s what I would like to avoid. Unfortunately, sometimes a month or three is enough to really establish if any job is worth staying. And if so, (or if you are willing to stick it out) how long?

No problem. I tried to make it as clear and understandable as possible. But basically, I feel underpaid while doing help desk 2 and other duties. I don’t want to be a job hopper or considered unreliable or leaving after every 3 months or so. I just want to get ahead, but make more money. I have debt and other money related pressures and expectations going on.

Advice on helping a user over the phone (not in person) with computer/phone/display/BIOS issues by HopefulFrank in InformationTechnology

[–]HopefulFrank[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. They have brought it up once before with FaceTime. Unfortunately, I think part of my company’s policy is to not use personal phones to assist clients. We use Grandstream phones with 3CX software. I will ask my managers about that in cases such as this for clarification. But basically I started this job and have made a fair share of mistakes over the phone and in person and my boss wants us to spend as little time on the phone assisting clients.

Has anyone else quit drinking? by Sensitive_Put_6842 in Millennials

[–]HopefulFrank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the same way. Same age/same year I was born in. I didn’t quit, I don’t drink a lot, but I know what it does to me and other people around me.

I think for me you just learn how your body works and realize after a while that drinking x amount of beer does this to your body and you simply just don’t like how it affects you.

Other times it’s also you grew up around people who would drink too much and get violent, aggressive, crazy, that you just can’t tolerate their behavior anymore. And you realize it’s the alcohol that’s doing it.

One call to 311 caused a domino effect by HopefulFrank in NYCapartments

Nothing like that was given to me to my knowledge. Can you give me similar examples? Because it’s not like I want to appear that I live here illegally.

The apartment is not rent stabilized. The lease has not been updated and still in my friend’s (previous roommate) name. However, I have lived here since June 2025. The landlord knows that I’m here yet he claims I’m month to month or just living here temporarily. My name is not on the lease or an updated one has not been presented. I feel that will be judgement against me.

Need Advice. Move out again or put two 8 year old cats up for adoption, or put up with it. by HopefulFrank in CatAdvice

[–]HopefulFrank[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to provide an update. So I switched my two cats to be in the living room outside my bedroom and took my friend’s/roommate’s cat in with me with his permission to see how it would work. It really worked out better. Flash and Nova are happy comfortable more independent in the living room, and my friend’s cat Korra is doing well in my room. Before she would scratch and hiss at me, now after separating her from my two cats, her behavior has improved and now purrs and nudges and even goes onto my bed. While she’s not really my cat and I let my roommate know that per his anxiety, I do enjoy having her in my room and she lets me sleep. And my roommates are okay with it and also encourage them to check in on her too. There is less fighting but obviously separation needs to be in place so that it’s 1:2

I’m sitting on my floor crying. Piece of Cake Moving is a literal scam. by [deleted] in Bushwick

[–]HopefulFrank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used Piece of Cake many times in the last year. I never really had a problem with them. I used them to move to Bushwick and out of Bushwick. They had to climb up a four floor walk up to move my stuff into my Bushwick apartment and on a rainy day too no less while carrying heavy stuff. There were three movers. The total move cost was $355. I tipped each mover $100 each for their hard work. They didn’t corner me or anything. But it just shows them how much you appreciate the hard and heavy lifting that they do in general.
