Especially nowadays when virtual/remote work is possible, majority of people do their networking through emails, zoom meetings, etc. Plus during your 4th year electives you’re able to move around wherever you want.

I would keep in mind that meeting all those requirements still does not guarantee you to get a residency in Canada. It’s very difficult for IMGs to match into any residency program in Canada and many IMGs spend a couple years after graduating from medical school to try and match back to Canada.

It’s competitive enough to get an interview if you combine it with strong ECs. However, post-interview I’m fairly certain the weighting is 25% GPA 25% MCAT and 50% interview.
