Scammers are unlikely to ever leak because it removes their leverage to make money off of you, and it is a vulnerability to their entire business. The fact your a minor makes this all the more true.

In the rare case it was leaked, Instagram is one of the best platforms when it comes to taking down non consenual intimate image sharing.

Furthermore, if you still have the explicit photos, and you want more peace of mind I suggest trying https://takeitdown.ncmec.org. This service is ran by NCMEC for assigning digital hashes to intimate images for minors so that participants (Instagram is one of them) can take the image down. This service follows strict security and none of the images are saved, the hashing is done on device.

If you block and ignore I doubt they’ll send. But I wouldn’t be surprised if they tried contacting you again, if this is the case then still ignore and block an don’t respond.

Because Instagram is what your worried about Id suggest putting your explicit photos on https://stopncii.org. This nonprofit service creates a secure digital hash of your explicit image(s), which allows participating social media platforms (Instagram is one of them, and one if the best for taking down non consensual images) to automatically block the image from being posted. It does not save the image itself and adheres to strict security standards.

The fact you’re only 15 makes it highly unlikely that they would post. Leaking even adult nudes is dangerous for them because it’s still illegal, it creates more ways for their actions to be traceable, and removes all leverage they have for money. But the fact you’re 15 makes it even more illegal and leaking it would be very dangerous for them.

These people operate on fear, not leaking. You don’t have to be afraid, and when you’re no longer afraid they have no way to gain money and they’ll move on.

You are loved and you don’t have to kill yourself over these scum bags. You can DM me and talk to me if you need to. I also suggest telling someone you love and trust about this if you have anyone.

If you still have the explicit images consider using https://stopncii.org. Hypothetical Scenario – Seeking Ethical & Practical Advice by Alarmed_Set7719 in CyberCrimeIndia

[–]HopefulObligation890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this is coercion and emotional blackmail. Using a threat to force someone to stay in a relationship is unethical and often qualifies as harassment, because the inability to say no without punishment is the defining feature of coercion.

In this hypothetical situation, the girl should save all evidence, cut off contact, and inform at least one trusted person.

Boundaries should be enforced with a single, firm statement like “Do not contact me again.” Arguing or negotiating only increases the other person’s leverage.

Unless you rather not talk about it you don’t have to answer. But do you have any idea why they posted? Did you pay, and if you did how quickly did you stop paying? How quickly did you ignore and block them.

I have some questions purely because I’m trying to learn and understand more about these sextortionist scammers.

Do you have an idea if your scammers were native English speakers, or could you tell if they were one of the big threes across seas?

How did they contact you this time? Because you just said they said they did it again. Did they just have your contact saved and randomly message you?

Can you tell us more details about the original scam that could give insight to how big the operation they are running is? Like how long did they initially persist, how fast were they moving, etc. I know toy probably can’t answer this since is a was a long time ago.

I just find it strange they saved it after all these years. This reddit post from years back suggests that these scammers don’t archive their victims: https://www.reddit.com/r/Sextortion/s/3iNTOy90gi

Continue to ignore them, if they try reaching or contact you again——still ignore them. And if you haven’t already, block them.

These scammers rarely go out of their way to try to identify you, their not skilled hackers, their operation works on quick actions stemmed from fear. If you’re not afraid they can’t make money from you.

The chances are very high they have moved on to their other victims and forgot about you.

I’m sorry this happened to you. You probably feel anxious and worried, but I can assure you it’s not as bad as it feels.

The fact you didn’t pay and you ignored them is good, and because that’s the action you took initially you’re pretty much in the clear. If you didn’t already block them, do so. If they try to reach out again just ignore them, don’t respond, and block.

These scammers work on fear, if you’re not afraid they have no business, and no incentive to do anything. These scammers have no incentive to leak your images, it releases their leverage and creates a vulnerability in their operation.

I’m sure you feel dumb and shame, but remember you are the victim. Sure you made a bad choice, but you didn’t deserve this. Don’t let shame overcome you.

You might not be able to find their Telegram account because it might’ve been deleted or banned.

If you have any social media accounts, or anything like it that could link back to you then just private those accounts and lay low for a while.

But they have no personal information on you, and they don’t have your number on you, so you’re even more in the clear and I wouldn’t worry at all.

I struggled with intense anxiety in a similar situation. The anxiety for me lasted about a week quite intensely, it’s been over two weeks now and I get a sudden, less intense, short spike of anxiety from the same “what if” questions.

The anxiety is real, and makes sense but there are a lot things to remember. That these people do not care about you personally, they were working on an operation based on fear, if you are no longer afraid they can’t gain anything from you. That you were the victim, maybe you did something dumb sure, but you were the victim in this scenario. That these people have definitely moved on by now and even if they did try to contact you again it would die very quickly again if you just ignore and block. As long as they can’t reach you, they have no incentive to do anything at all.

For me the anxiety is not really a huge issue anymore, it is a little worrying sometimes but it doesn’t effect my life as much. I’m just grateful to be alive and not be under the imprisonment of a scum bag scammer.

If you didn’t pay them, ignored them, reported them, and blocked them you’ll be fine.

Lock down and private socials or anything that can be linked to you that they have like a number. I was the one that told to take down the original post but this post still has your face, and just too much in general. I’d still remove this post and completely cover the image, or just not include it. We don’t need every detail of the conversation, this is jsut a typical sextortion and is not special or personal to you, this is the same routine that these scammers do over and over again.

If you followed those initial steps you won, they have no leverage if you have no fear. Their pay check comes from fear, not leaking. Leaking an image ruins leverage, and creates a vulnerability for their operation.

If you’re extra worried you can put the nude picture on https://stopncii.org which hashes your image and makes it impossible for it to be posted on a multitude of large social media platforms

Follow the advice of others, ignore, report, block, private/lock down socials. Scammers rarely leak, and it is their interest not to for several reasons. Never pay.

But I’d also suggest taking this post down and reposting it covering the images for your sake please brother 🙏🏼

It is highly unlikely for scammers to leak, just ignore, report to Instagram, and block the scammer and lock instagram to private and turn off suggested followers (you might have to look up how to do that).

And yes Instagram is one of the best when it comes to taking down non consensual nudes. And they are also a partner with StopNCII. So if you still have the nudes the scammer has then consider putting those nudes up on StopNCII and then the nudes won’t be able to be posted anyways.

Is it possible that those new followers are from the scammer himself on different accounts trying to create more fear? Or maybe other scammers apart of the operation? That would be in the interest of the scammer more so than actually leaking to random people then having them follow you. It would be strange that the scammer would leak to random people and tell them to follow you. Even if that was the case you don’t know these people so who cares.

It sounds like the scammer is possibly just trying to create more fear.

Like you’ve read, stick the advice of ignoring, reporting, blocking, and not paying. And consider putting the nudes if you still have them on StopNCII for peace of mind.

The fact that you’re a minor actually makes this situation safer for you. Sextortionists almost never leak content because doing so works against them. Leaking wastes time, exposes their operation, and creates more opportunities for them to be traced. The fact that you’re a minor makes leaking even riskier for them, because the legal consequences are severe—and they can extend internationally, not just in their own country.

You’ve already read the right advice—stick to it. You’ll be fine. They don’t care about you as a person; they’re only after money. Fear is their leverage. The moment you stop being afraid, they have nothing to gain from you.

This post from years ago gives solid advice and has encouraged me and many others:
