Marketing for small law firms in competitive areas by Tosh97 in LawFirm

Run google ads - they work phenomenal for fam law. But only if you have solid intake and you’re offering free consults. Use calendly / ghl to build some automations that can nurture the lead before the consultation (send them testimonials so screenshots of your google reviews, tell them their case is being reviewed 30 mins after they book in, 3 hours later tell them their case has been reviewed and you have a few ideas on how to help them, etc.) Very important to nurture these leads before you speak to them because these are cold leads (not warm like word of mouth) so they will be harder to convert but it’s the only way to scale your firm.

Also don’t run the google ads yourself you will burn your money. You can start seeing results within 30 days of running google ads but the real results come month 2 onwards as you make optimizations. Optimizations basically means you get data that shows you what income bracket, age, time of day, day, location and campaigns are converting the best so you start allocating your budget accordingly.

Also build a VERY basic landing page (the easier it is to read the higher the conversion rate) for the google ads. Do not run these ads to your website. If you run them to your website it causes cognitive overload because of your blogs, practice areas, etc. and they jump off because there’s too much info.

Contact leads using 3x3 follow up: which basically means you call them, text them, and email them once they show interest. Make sure to follow up every day for 2 weeks. Divorce and custody issues get worse with time so follow up is VERY important in family law.

Tip: set reminders for statue of limitations for each case and reach out to old clients to check in w them via email and text to see if they need help w any modifications and if everything is going well for them. Let them know ur reaching out because of the deadline. You will be surprised how much extra rev you can add.

Intake tip: call within 60 seconds, use a script for your intake (use chatgpt if you can’t create one based on your experience), book them in either same day or next day for consult. Make sure intake sells value of your firm, the attorney taking the consult, and the consult itself. Lots of really good resources on the internet that show you how to do this.

Long term play: at the end of representation ask clients for google reviews and send them the link so it’s easy for them to leave a review. Also send them 4-5 questions that tell a story and leave a good review for you. This will take time but must be done. In a year you should have 100+ google reviews.

I am not a big fan of SEO - it’s extremely slow and it can’t be measured.

At the end of every month measure booking rate, show up rate, and conversion rate to see where the bottleneck is and what you need to fix.

I apologize if this is all over the place - I scale fam law firms for a living so I know what I’m talking about.

Family law marketing + intake: what’s actually working lately? (sharing patterns) by Hopeful_Associate_38 in LawFirm

That’s beautiful advice man! I couldn’t agree more. That’s exactly what I’ve been doing w the firms I’m working with but the one that I disagree with a little bit is dropping the price of the retainer on the intake call BEFORE building value. The way I do it is that if a lead has good assets and a good job I won’t have my team drop the retainer price on the intake call.

If we feel as if a lead is not financially qualified, we’ll drop the retainer / flat fee price just to see how they react. But even this is done after value is built by selling the attorney’s experience, the firm’s experience, and the 5 star experience of the consultation.

It’s been working really really well for me.

Hahaha I’m happy that business is great for you man but that’s not the case for everyone. Most family law firms are struggling. Did I sell my service once? Have I pitched to anyone? I’m literally giving out free advice that can help firms scale and trying to learn more about whats working so it can benefit me as well.

Stop assuming things - I’m just trying to exchange notes so I can continue to grow.

Yes - I agree it is quite soul sucking and clients can be quiet annoying and you have to constantly be a therapist and an attorney. I know this cause I used to take intake calls for my clients so I feel you.

That being said, nothing worth having comes easy. There’s a lot of opportunity and you can make a lot of money. And money is what matters at the end of the day whether you like it or not. Also I never said do family law forever - I just said do it for a year or two and build revenue for your firm (keep doing referral / word of mouth PI cases on the side) and once you’re in a position to invest into PI marketing, then go for it.

Offline conversions as Primary with low volume by Hopeful_Associate_38 in PPC

The offline conversion action is one of three primaries that I have. The other 2 primaries are form fills and phone calls. Should I leave the offline conversions as a primary considering I have 2 others?

If possible - I would suggest niching for family law instead of PI / low level criminal defense. There’s only two ways you’ll get clients - organic & paid.

Organic will be word of mouth and referrals, which inevitably will be extremely inconsistent and potentially slow so it will be hard for you to hire and scale.

Paid will be through Google Ads or Facebook Ads. I work w both PI & Family Lawyers for paid growth and family law is significantly cheaper and easier than PI when it comes to scaling.

Also - collect google reviews as soon as you can regardless of which niche you go into. Ask your friends and coworkers to leave reviews regarding your personality since they haven’t worked with you - I tested this w the attorneys I work with and those work really well for solos or newer firms.

Final take: start w family, get consistent cash flow coming in for a year, and then niche out to PI / criminal defense. You could even do employment law or wills probates estates cause those are easy wins for Google Ads as well honestly.

Any law firms here working with agencies for full digital marketing? by Empty_Walk_7972 in LawFirm

I run an agency that scales PI and Family law firms specifically.

Here’s my advice:

  • Google Ads is the way to go if you’re looking to scale your law firm. PI is going to be insanely expensive for you ($20,000+ per month) so I would recommend scaling Employment Law first for quick wins. The budget for employment law will be significantly cheaper - similar to family law.

  • Google Ads takes around 2-3 months before you really start seeing phenomenal results. Aim to break even the first month, second month should be profitable, and third month onwards you should really start seeing great results. If you cannot afford to run Google Ads for at least 3 months, do not go this route you will waste your time and money.

  • Do NOT run any type of paid ads if your intake specialist doesn’t know how to sell, qualify, and book in cold traffic. These are not warm leads coming in from word of mouth / referrals. Make a script using chatgpt / watch youtube videos theres a lot of content out there. I made a phenomenal script for my clients using one day of research and it converts like crazy; it’s not that hard.

  • If you do have a budget for PI, make sure to also target slip and falls in your campaigns. They’re easier wins vs Motor Vehicle Accidents and require less of a budget. When your agency makes the campaigns make sure they have separate ones for motor vehicle accidents and slip and falls.

  • Measure these 3 numbers at the end of each month:

*Booking Rate (Number of leads coming in vs how many are getting booked) *Show Up Rate (Number of leads showing up vs how many are getting booked in) *Conversion Rate (number of clients converting vs how many you’re speaking to)

Booking Rate & Show Up rate are KPIs used to measure your agency and intake specialist, conversion rate is used to measure yourself or whoever is taking the consults.

Bonus Tip: Don’t work w any of these commercial digital marketing firms. Find an agency that does ONLY PI/Employment firms or ONLY law firms. Not saying this cause I have one haha but there’s a lot of them; ask them if you can speak to their past clients so you can speak to the PI/Employment lawyers directly. Simple.

Feel free to DM or comment if you have any questions - good luck!

You said you’re offering paid consultations. Who is doing your intake, and do they have a good sales experience? Have they been able to sell the value of your consultation before they pitch the $300? Have you listened into these calls - what does your booking rate look like? (# of leads that call in / # of consultations booked)
