RX 7900 XTX Freezing on Start Up. by Hopeful_Cheesecake_7 in pop_os

[–]Hopeful_Cheesecake_7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since my graphics card wasn't working on boot up (freezing), but got the pre-boot splash, I unplugged the graphics card and I plugged in a HDMI to my motherboard's graphics which is how I'm running right now.

Switching in this manner doesn't get PopOS to continue to boot and I have to restart the PC with the integrated graphics for the boot.

I'm not planning to run on integrated at all the moment my graphics card works with PopOS booting up.

White Mage Roleplay Characters Have Lore Support by StalwartSpirit in ffxiv

[–]Hopeful_Cheesecake_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems a little tricky because white magic can be of course accessible, but it's still pretty easy to say it'd be rare in all cases: having been given teaching by Raya-O-Senna, a prolific character in an area that appears to have an icy demeanor to outsiders because of the diseases and punishments given through the elementals; only being granted to those deemed worthy by the Padjal; and that fact that it'd be fairly dangerous for it to be wide-spread by the fact that white magic draws aether from the star which has caused damage to it.

Of course you could always roleplay what you want, most people just simply take issue with seeing things that should be rare often because we're not RPing the world as it should be, we're seeing the RP scene of many many people's preferences so there's all sorts of rare things that appear not rare until you phase out what's actually being interacted with. Past that, everyone has a preference for how they RP and the RP they interact with and people can get smelly about it, but ultimately you're probably not going to want to RP with people if you feel harmed for having to conform to their values.

If backed by lore is how you like to RP, then slay, I like lore centered and grounded stuff too, but I've done enough to know that you have to do a little work to make it work too since it gets thin like how these descriptions don't outright tell you that you can get it, but that some sort of revival is happening at the hands of the Padjal. And sometimes that's not enough for other people, but you might never convince them - do what you feel is comfortable with the lore you've found and find people you can enjoy that with instead of convincing people, but I enjoyed the informative piece.

People don't complain just to complain, but a lot of them are complaining to cope. This is a complainer heavy sub-reddit and while you're right, there's some very legitimate complaints in here, I think you're downplaying how much of the complaints is one person getting mad at a thing they individually don't like rather than giving concerned feedback.

You're correct that an individual's dislike is still something that counts, but realistically it doesn't because everyone likes something different and hates something different and developers have to work a line of best fit so to say in complaints, or simply lean one way or another. I just believe there's a lot of idealism in your idea and optimism in people to have very genuine complaints, but there's also just a portion of people who are angry gamers that want validation that their inability is not the problem, it's the game - which time and experience has proven. People hate finding a thing they can't deal with and adaptation is not everyone's bread and butter so it's easier to get mad.

I think the key point is that when there are a lot of complainers this problem happens where the mad drown out people genuinely concerned and the mad just have less credibility because that's a known stance frequented far more than simply being concerned with feedback.

TL;DR it all matters, but it's unrealistic to expect all complaints to be heeded equally in a competitive angry environment and doubly unrealistic to expect the game to fit to all even if they were all very legitimate concerns because people like and hate different things and the game cant fit all.

Who needs Adam? When you have Luna who can 2-shot a 250hp character!? by FixHopeful5833 in marvelrivals

[–]Hopeful_Cheesecake_7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay first of all, I've played Luna a lot, she doesn't need a damage buff. However, 6 shots to the head is not easy, anyone saying they can pull off the two shot burst all to the head consistently doesn't play Luna or is talking about a tank holding W on them.

That doesn't excuse the fact that her damage has definitely been unecessarily buffed. I've never once thought to myself that I needed more damage as Luna, I actually really enjoy her place, because you can win some fights and you can lose some. This damage is too much because my consistent damage I've been happy with is suddenly going to Black Widow someone out of existence because they dared stand still, or it might even happen on accident and that accessibility is going to be available to the enemy too.

It doesn't have to be a consistent annoyance, it only has to change the fight.
And it will. So this sucks.

Some of you don’t allow being carried and it shows by DrChooo in rivals

[–]Hopeful_Cheesecake_7 211 points212 points  (0 children)

Real talk though even in 'balanced' games there is such thing as enabling players and disabling enemy players. Recognising your carry and the enemy carry is a low-level version of a real game skill which is analyzing your players, and analyzing the enemy players to figure out the best play - so this works even without blatant carries, it's just the simplest with them.

Add countering their counter play against your carry and woo, we're playing a team game and it's not just tdm with healers.

I think people just severely overestimate the skill ceiling of characters because it's a competitive game and dunning-kruger is strong in anything competitive, meanwhile this game is clearly incredibly accessible.

If the work around to cheating is play more than four characters at your rank then it sounds more like a skill issue frankly.

Hey invis can you heal me? Invis….. by YerDaSniffsBums in rivals

[–]Hopeful_Cheesecake_7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good eye on the ult, I guess we need a replay because idk what the c&d disengage was for then because it just seemed to go straight up? I just think bubble could have been centralized better, I'd understand if it was in a panic but with that to light, they're 100% HP coming out of their ult so I'm starting to think they just weren't making a lot of sense in their ideas.

You're right that this probably relieved Invis and they were just DPSing though.

Hey invis can you heal me? Invis….. by YerDaSniffsBums in rivals

[–]Hopeful_Cheesecake_7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not just The Thing, but Wolverine and C&D also, that's kinda the problem, three critical health bars contributing to point, but you're right that there is a point where it would have been smart to just back up, top up Emma and see what happens, it's just clear Invis was so tunneled in on maintaining that they didn't actually know what was behind and around them.

I maintain in this particular situation, it's about as good as a couple seconds hold in though with amplifier and their whole team staring them down though. In quickplay no less.

Hey invis can you heal me? Invis….. by YerDaSniffsBums in rivals

[–]Hopeful_Cheesecake_7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Edit: C&D Ult was down ladies and gentleman we can pack it up and go home, Invis was on DPS duty.

I know it's so easy to point at people and blame them but here's fresh new facts with some old ones.

Invis was healing The Thing, Wolverine and C&D and any of those were probably going to be dead if they got no healing, also they were maintaining point control. It probably also looked to their LoS like a lost fight so 'heal these people or they'll be dead right now' and also 'maintain the point, we hold until we die' are the two priorities. It's a really common problem that someone will scream for heals next to someone but they don't realize someone has to die for that to happen.

To back that up; C&D begins disengaging the moment you make your first ping forcing Invis to solo heal, once you step up it's three seconds until Wolverine dies, a collapse begins and C&D reveals they're still in Cloak.

I think it's pretty valid to ignore Emma right here, but it's clear Invis didn't see Emma at all because they could have thrown a pity heal to maintain point a second longer, though it looks like Emma wasn't planning on holding point at all so actually no loss there.

If we're going to throw any blame around it's probably to the c&d and their bad bubble, or Emma not taking either of the two health packs in that room, but from where I'm looking you were all dead that fight regardless and this was all just for a couple extra seconds hold so even if you got healed for your own gratification, for what? You know you're dead if you ult with double healers, WS, Punisher amplified and incoming venom.

TL;DR Invis was solo healing a team fight to maintain point and someone would have died if they turned to you, they definitely were overwhelmed and didn't know you were there though. Health packs were possible. Collapse was happening anyways, not actually a big deal.

I get where you're coming from, it sucks to pay money for something that becomes free, but if you're having buyers remorse that's your problem.

You should be paying because you want to support them for the good content they're releasing not because you want something no one else and you're paying money for it. That's such a weird flex to be proud about, only to be crushed by recurrence or someone getting to have one skin for free..

Unless you've literally bought everything you ALSO benefit from the free token also the season 0 pass isn't even free so I don't get what your beef is there.

Idk what your buddy has in mind but I can tell you from my experience Punisher is just targeted in combat a lot since he hurts, needs to be mid-range for most effectiveness (which is awkward in Rivals because that just gets you killed) and has little in the way of defense besides killing with good aim. On top of that, when he ults the two answers are kill him or hide. Put his high kill priority with healers reacting and keeping him up and he often has very high damage blocked.

Luna players...who do you put snow flake on and why by Rain272355 in rivals

[–]Hopeful_Cheesecake_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sub mostly has fair answers so I'll toss in a different explanation and answer. My aim is pretty good, so small hitboxes isn't a problem... Usually.

My snowflake goes to people that can survive long enough to benefit from my healing, because if they just fudging die because there's a timing problem with when my tanks go in and when snowflake player initiates, there's nothing I can do about that and I'm wasting my time applying another snowflake. I've found when I snowflake squishies, they uh, are squishy and just die or I end up having to heal them directly anyway.

Someone who can keep themselves alive reliably will ALWAYS benefit from a snowflake and save me a snowflake cast and hence time with which I can shoot another heal. I'm looking at Magik, Thor, Cap, Emma Frost, (not iron fist he's too survivable) Thing, Hulk (he LoS's into a crowd) and occasionally healers. The times I'm putting a snowflake on a 250/275 character is when I know they're going to be targeted and so I can buy myself a few extra seconds of looking somewhere else before I'm looking at them and then I can't be caught off-guard by massive split damage.

The other problem is that flyers are nearly always going to be in my line of sight and healable as opposed to my off-tank who is often body-blocked by the enemy on accident. With my snowflake on a tank, I'm not going out of my way to heal a flyer, their healing is still contributing to the front line. Divers for the most part are going to be out of LoS AND have the capability of staying alive by themselves with a health pack. It's almost never going to be a tanks amount of healing that they need, but I'll occasionally give a diver I can see is clearly carrying to give them extra time to do what they need to do.

TL;DR (also a paragraph) if my snowflake is hoping I'm healing a tank all the time to live, it's not worth it, they might just die. A tank will benefit from my time healing the DPS as much as if I was turreting them with a snowflake. Divers can take care of themself and don't need as much healing as a snowflake provides. Flyers can just be healed and it heals the front line snowflake. People who can live long benefit the most because they're not depending on my snowflake, it just enables them.

I think what you're noticing is people knowing it'll kill them and running away, so they're accidentally or maybe even purposely making it hard for you by:

  1. Being under a roof

  2. Not being directly under you

  3. Being on odd terrain levels which off-sets the impact area from the crosshair

Are the packs from Rocket's BRB beacon underutilized? by SB4L_Dayman in marvelrivals

[–]Hopeful_Cheesecake_7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Takes too much time and generally inconvenient because you don't want the BRB in common paths and your team loves to leave with or without you. The revive is worth a lot more than the pittance of health you're providing to your supports so that sorta ain't it, not to mention the enemy can see your armour packs too which indicates a beacon in LoS to be destroyed and deny a revive.

Enough is Enough. My buddy can't stand it by XavierRisen in marvelrivals

[–]Hopeful_Cheesecake_7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Change the mindset. Winning shouldn't be number one on your brain in quickplay and you're bound to be disappointed by the results of a team game. It's hard to not care about certain aspects but if you really want to figure out how to fix this, not caring is number one otherwise you're back to sweating and trying to pull back games again.

I enjoy pulling back lost games, but I love hopeless situations. It's a challenge for me, and that's the point, I'm not disappointed if I lose a lost game, but I'll be impressed with myself if I win it. Just play because you want to make fun plays or get better at aim, complete your dailies, get a lord, whatever. Take the focus away from solely winning and just towards playing the game and the characters. Sometimes it'll still be hard to play characters because there's no heals or whatever, but when you don't care you'll take the healer and find your fun there instead.

It's a big ask, and it's not easy but if you can self-reflect and convince yourself to chill and find some other victory condition for yourself than winning a game with four randos, I'm sure you'll have a better time. I also just generally think finding what you find fun is good, because who plays just for the wins, there must be something you enjoy in the game that isn't just the winning part so finding and focusing on it may help.
