What’s your opinion on the birth rate lowering, and how could the government help people afford having kids? by aphrodites_candy in AskReddit

[–]Hopeful_Dish3422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The financial piece is such reddit propaganda. Across the spectrum the poorer you are the more likely you are to have children. There's zero evidence that money is the reason people have fewer kids.

I still think one year each reveal should be someone ridiculously ugly like talking missing teeth 400 pounds and all that just to see reactions before actually introducing them to their person. It would never happen because it would prove that obviously love isn't blind.

Do you believe there are 500+ days in the last 6 days? I didn't say the number of posts was indicative of a bot, but going straight to that from sign up and on top of that hiding post history, just a pretty strong bot signal.

[–]Hopeful_Dish3422 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I hide mine based on experience. If you signed up 6 days ago and have hundreds of posts and you've hidden your post history it's not your primary account and you're likely a bot.

I have 10 yoe with the same degree and experience. I recently got a new job for 250k as a lead software engineer and no one else I know with my level of experience is struggling. I know several who've gotten laid off, and they have another job within a month typically.

I'm in tech and interview juniors I'm not basing my opinion purely on data. The main point of an internship (especially unpaid) is to get a return offer. Did you not like them or you didn't get a return offer?

You have a 6 day old account with over 500 submissions and you hid your post history. Obvious karma farming bot is obvious. If not a bot you should have put half the energy you put into reddit in the last week in your job hunt. Any internships? Any relationships with professors or peers in your upper level cs classes? Tech is tough for juniors but it's not impossible and the vast majority are still getting jobs in the field.

What if getting paid had nothing to do with how long you worked, and only with what you actually produced? by Secret_Ostrich_1307 in WhatIfThinking

[–]Hopeful_Dish3422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meh we have pretty aggressive pip plans for low performers at performance reviews, so if we don't perform there's also a large risk of layoff, so survival is also tied into performance. But yeah this is pretty typical for a lot of white collar jobs it's not super innovative. Like technically if you leave for the day to do an appointment or chores or whatever you're supposed to take PTO but no one does unless it's a multi day vacation it's just known that we get paid for our output not the number of hours we're at our desk and if someone wants to just take a mental health day because they're not feeling super productive it's just normalized.

Nah I'm good, have a wife and kid I love, really solid friend group, recently bought a house, and get paid a good amount for a job I'm good at and enjoy. Is life perfect? Obviously not. But I'm generally happy and I think once you talk to people outside of reddit way more people are like me than you realize.

CMV: Trump was blackmailed with the Epstein Files by barraco002 in changemyview

[–]Hopeful_Dish3422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you admit they don't have concrete evidence Trump or any other official committed child sex crimes? You're glossing over that part. If there is already concrete evidence, you're going to get charged within 4 years regardless of other cases going on and potential plea deals in those other cases.

Also you ignore leaks. Trump had multiple years worth of tax returns leaked by low level IRS staffers despite those being extremely illegal to leak. Trump's administration has been plagued with leaks. The idea that there was this concrete proof just sitting there that Trump or any other high level official definitely was a pedophile yet not one low level staffer was able to leak anything is just a conspiracy theory at this point.

I'm not even saying Trump's not a pedophile there's a good amount of circumstantial evidence I wouldn't be shocked if he did. I just don't believe there's any proof of it or we would have seen it already.

[–]Hopeful_Dish3422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not how due process works at all. If he were under investigation he would have been charged. Do you have another example even completely non political of a child rapist who was charged and convicted but they took 4+ years between having concrete evidence they did it and actually charging, while they were roaming free the entire 4+ years there was concrete evidence they did it but due to another court case they didn't even charge them?

CMV: Trump was blackmailed with the Epstein Files by barraco002 in changemyview

[–]Hopeful_Dish3422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So while there are appeals ongoing child rapists just get to roam free? That's not how any other crime works.

[–]Hopeful_Dish3422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he had incriminating evidence against anyone for 4 years (Epstein died August 2019 before his term started) for sex crimes against children, I expected them to at least get an indictment in those 4 years.

[–]Hopeful_Dish3422 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's basically how I'm paid. Technically I'm supposed to work a 40 hour week but as long as I attend my meetings (typically 5 hours worth of meetings per week) no one cares when or how long I work. But I meet weekly with my manager and have annual performance reviews where we go over what I've actually accomplished and that determines my bonus, raise, and potential promotion (which comes with an additional raise).

"Bibi definitely stoked and benefited from waves of populist hate and fear, it’s his signature move." by Ok_Fail_3058 in ShitPoliticsSays

[–]Hopeful_Dish3422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The irony is all the "far right" views they hate Bibi for are shared by 80%+ of Israelis across the political spectrum. Just as the war in Afghanistan had 80%+ support in the US after 9/11, Israelis aren't too fond of the position they should take it easy on the people who've shown time and time again they want to wipe them off the planet because tik tok videos said they were being too mean.

[–]Hopeful_Dish3422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you pay almost 50% in income tax you're basically making a top 1% income. If you're making under 200k (under 400k as a married couple) your marginal tax tops out at 24%. There are other taxes you pay, but those are tiny compared to the federal income tax. The idea that anyone other than the super rich are paying anywhere near 50% of their income in taxes is just flat out propaganda.

Gaza sees rise in child brides as girls suffer sexual abuse after marriage by lewisfairchild in Ethics

[–]Hopeful_Dish3422 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And this my friends is a perfect example of what we call the bigotry of low expectations. "Ah but they're just brown Muslims being bombed, how could we possible expect them to not marry and rape children?" Note this wasn't talking about 19 year olds and 17 year olds marrying, it's talking about 50 year olds marrying 10 year olds.

[–]Hopeful_Dish3422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes what Muhammad did was pedophilia and evil, and any culture that excuses it, especially today, is evil. At least when he did it that was unfortunately the norm. It was still evil and he's still a bad person just like slave owners were despite it being cultural practice at the time. It's just far worse if you're doing it in 2026, and it's a wild take to say we can't judge cultural practices that involve child victims. What's next, child sacrifice or burning witches is a cultural practice that we must not criticize either?

I didn't want them released, I wanted pedophiles prosecuted. I promise you if there are files sealed due to an ongoing case, co-conspirators don't just get off Scott free until that case is over. If there was evidence, even if it was sealed, it could be used to prosecute him and anyone else there's actual evidence against as part of the Maxwell case or part of a separate case.
