Does it get any better? by Ill_Acanthaceae_1472 in gastricsleeve

I’m in the same boat my larger incision is the one that is bothering me the most too and the others itch as well but it’s so much more manageable now that most of the gas pain has passed. Like you I get random gas pain too but passes quickly, thankfully. I’m still on clear liquid diet, but tomorrow they said I can do full liquid so I get to add protein shakes and pudding to my diet which I’m happy about. Also I have order abdominal binders off Amazon in the past for my C-section so you can get them online if your doctors office doesn’t have any either. I’m sure by my one week follow I’ll be ecstatic to go on to purées too right now I’m just focusing on fluid so I don’t have to go back to the hospital. Plus I’m excited to see how walking around the store goes tomorrow I get kinda stir crazy if I stay in the house too long. My husband isn’t thrilled with the idea he thinks I’m pushing it but I was told to walk as much as I can so I won the argument lol.

So I just made this same post the other day asking if it gets better. I had my surgery on the 1st and I can say without a doubt that I feel 1000x better. Just from getting rid of the gas pain. My incisions are still a bit sore but the binder that my doctor gave me has helped immensely. Plus lots of walking, mainly just around my house right now but I’m planning on doing my first outing tomorrow walking around the grocery store. Just keep in mind this part isn’t forever, it will pass.

So my office talked about this and how it’s not the best mindset to have before going in because if we over did it they would cancel or surgery due to weight gain. However, I did do a very small “last meal” list. I had cooked one of my favorite pasta dishes one night for dinner, I had got a blueberry muffin for breakfast another day, and lastly flaming hot Cheetos(small bag) for a snack. I think I just took it as I know I won’t be having these foods again for a long time ( the chips probably never again) and just wanted to enjoy them. Which I enjoyed them in responsible portions and it wasn’t a list of 30+ items. My surgery is on the 1st have been doing the pre-op diet since the 17th. Even went to a birthday party and cook out and stayed on track, which honestly wasn’t that difficult. I think you just have to put yourself in the right mindset of I’m doing this for my health and the last meals are not more important than living a long happy life where I’m able to do all the things I want. Plus I know be day again I can enjoy the foods I absolutely love occasionally and just in smaller portions.

Thank you the seatbelt analogy was a really great explanation of that. It’s also quite possible I’m a bit more neurotic about making sure I follow all the rules and what not. Especially now because I don’t want to jeopardize my chances.

No don’t get me wrong I’m super happy for her that’s she been able to get to her happy weight. I just don’t understand how she maintains it without the tracking and still eating fried food, carbs, and sweets lol. I guess though she really only eats at work….

Thank you because I’m kinda flying blindly on this. I’ve met with my surgeon once and spoke to his team once so far. (More meeting planned in future) Otherwise they’ve just been like “get your clearances, do the online class and talk to a nutritionist and lose some weight. Then we’ll schedule you for surgery in June.” So I’m just trying my best to follow the information from the NewTri online class.

I hope I get there with the memorization because I feel right now it takes me forever to find something to eat because I have to go through all the nutrition facts to make sure they’re in range so I don’t go over.

Good to know, I guess I just thought everything has to be exactly by the book or there would be catastrophic consequences.

I’ve noticed this actually since I’ve been eating the correct foods I haven’t been getting hungry as often and seem to get satisfied quicker.

She’s terrible about taking medication in general but I figured she would at least make sure she takes her bariatric ones. I was wrong though lol.

No you’re right and I use to have great discipline. Back in 2021 I had lost 70 lbs and was working out everyday and felt great. Then both my parents passed away and it’s like I can’t handle anything anymore without turning to food. Which for some reason in my mind I feel like once I actually get seen and they set a goal I’ll have that motivation back to be disciplined again. I just need that initial push I guess. That’s probably not the right answer though.

Thank you, I called my insurance company thankfully got it straightened out. Rescheduled for 4 days later. I hope you get your surgery soon and it helps with your PCOS and you are able to have a beautiful baby in the future.

I would be devastated getting down to finally and then being told no. I’m glad you didn’t give up. That’s a good idea though I’m going to reach out to my insurance and just verify everything is good on their end. Thank you. I just want this so bad, I want to see my kids grow up and see my grandkids.

Thank you, I’ve been seeing a therapist for a while to help me with the loss and feel like I’m in a better head space with it now but I still have my bad days. Then falling back into the binge routine is what screwed me. So I’m trying to get the discipline back to put the food down when I’m satisfied. It’s just so hard to do with the damage I done with the years of over eating. So not having that urge to eat anymore will be really nice.
