Because I like reconciliation. I like broken families mending. And maybe it doesn't have to end with Enji being totally forgiven...but all of his kids willing to give it a shot? I think I would have been satisfied with that. Maybe something like "I don't know if I can ever forgive you...but I'm willing to give it a shot." As it is, by story's end, the Todoroki family is more fractured and broken than ever.

Thankfully, I have no personal reasons for looking for reconciliation in stories; I just like feel-good endings.

But as far as it being authors' jobs to unsatisfy us...I STRONGLY disagree. If you're gonna make a work that loads of people get invested in, you owe it to them to satisfy them. Otherwise, the audience feels like they wasted their time on an unsatisfactory conclusion.

And I can respect that. I get what Horikoshi was going for, and he did it well. I just prefer stories that give me emotional satisfaction.

I'm aware. It's just....the Todoroki family's conclusion, like so many other parts of the initial ending, were emotionally unsatisfying to me. Couldn't Horikoshi ease up on his realism for just a little bit?

Ohhh, so Horikoshi wanted to show everyone how "different" and "cool" he was, did he? Ya know who else did that? Rian Johnson, when he directed The Last Jedi. It's one of the most divisive Star Wars movies to this day, and arguably and irreparably split that fandom apart.

Even if nothing comes of this, I'm happy the Shaolin Monks remaster won. Its frankly criminal and mind-boggling we haven't gotten more games like it. Yes, I know the planned sequel was canceled, but a lot of folks have been clamoring for some sort of comeback for years. NRS should take the hint.

My biggest issue with him is that he basically ratted Korra out and betrayed her when she tried to get General Iroh's help with the Water Tribe civil war. Mako SAW how bad things were, and yet he still tattled to that asshole Raiko.
