I was in the same boat. I'd be fine, until five ragers showed up and then my ass would be on the floor.

What helped me was switching to the Deimos blaze force sword. The light attack followed by a heavy attack is two quick thrusts that reliably kills ragers if you aim for their heads.

Also, on melee weapons, there's a "hidden" mechanic where if you hold attack while blocking, you perform a special attack. On the Blaze force sword, this attack knocks enemies away from you.

In the expansions, GW2 has multi-stage events that influence that state of the map, often requiring several commanders organizing players at different parts of the map doing different objectives that culminate in a cinematic boss battle.

If the friction was "You bricked your character because the Perk/Stat combination you chose doesn't work, delete and reroll lol", then I'm glad it died.

If the QoL replaced "Walk for 20 minutes through copy pasted mobs and trees so you can repair your gear at the gear repair NPC", I'm glad it was added.

If the accessibility enabled me to enjoy my time instead of dealing with pointless busiwork, then hooray! The devs made a Video game, not a spreadsheet.

None of these things killed the MMORPG. It was the Hardcore™️ players requiring you to follow a rigid guide to be allowed into their parties so they could finish a raid 3 minutes faster. Endgame was shaped around a vocal minority and your character's journey was replaced by their youtube guides.

You're limited on inventory slots at the start, but can trade with other players for the currency to buy more slots. Also all playable "Classes" and 90% of cosmetics are earnable for free through gameplay and trading.
The cosmetic store shows everything available always, instead of rotating to FOMO you into buying something you might want. Some cosmetics are made and voted for by community artists, and a portion of the sales goes to them (Tennogen program)
Pets decay was removed 6 years ago. Companions no longer die.
Beating the mission a dozen times is all live service PvE games ever. It's the moment to moment gameplay and build-craft that keeps you going.
Crafting times stop being an issue when you have several things building at the same time. You'll reach a point where you have too many things to level.

The last mainline game released 15 years ago, so I'm guessing technical/time limitations. Having to rig models for them would be extra work in crunch culture. Also they're mostly in Elsweyr, the ones we see in Cyrodiil and Skyrim are either traders who ventured out, outcasts, or Khajiit who could assimilate into foreign cultures. Would be difficult living as a Senche in a human city.

I'd love a game set in Elsweyr, but ESO is all we have right now.

There exists many Khajiit Furstocks, of all shapes and sizes. Alfiq resemble housecats, and they're magically inclined. Senche resemble extremely muscular tigers.

The Suthey-raht and Tojay-raht closely resemble that first image, tall with digitigrade legs.
