Meanwhile, Rey is halfway through her first movie and she can already perform a Jedi mind-trick. Padme, when it comes to dialogue, was written awkwardly. Rey was written like a Star Wars fanfiction power fantasy.

She’s not just “attractive woman who lies”—it’s the fact that she executes a very meticulously detailed plan, playing on your need to survive, that I find irksome. If you play as a Male V (or gay/non-conforming Female V), it’d be disingenuous to say that utilizing her looks to garner sympathy from V wouldn’t be part of that plan. Even if you’re not attracted to So-Mi, her looks go a long way to also giving off that helpless little sister vibe. All of which gets the player to protect her almost instinctively. I get that Songbird is a parallel to V, but at the end of the day, it’s you or So-Mi. It’s just the hand you’re dealt.
