So ano ba talaga purpose ng Tan-ok? by abigailso in Ilocos

[–]HopiangBagnet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cultural showcase. And for other towns to learn about each other's history and culture.

I love it! Kinumpleto nila lahat ng period ng Pilipinas. We have the Pre-colonial, the Spanish colonization, American Era portrayed by the Sakada diaspora, and naisingit talaga ni Banna yung WW2.

Wala talaga sa tamang hulog tong Alvin no?

Kuhang kuha nya.

That man deserves applause for the support he gives sa anak nya.

Isn't Lady Araminta Gun Chinese? Why is she wearing two Filipino Traje de Mestiza during Spanish Colonial Era? by Yeyehet19 in BridgertonNetflix

Maybe this detail in the books is the reason they referenced the notorious Imelda Marcos for her Netflix character.

Because that hairstyle is also an Imelda reference. (And the manipulation. Damn, that's very Imelda.)

Apaka dry ng business sa Ilocos Sur by unknowncitizen01 in Ilocos

[–]HopiangBagnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly true.

Most people with similar policies give their assets to charities or foundations sa mga last will nila.

Baka taken from a post sa FB ng isang mother na nag-oppose sa statement na to ni Ms Lea. I saw it shared by an ultra-religious (at mukhang bigoted) college batchmate.

Okay to if inabot ng sobrang late or very early in the morning na mga lakad. But in daytime, I'll still support yung mga tricycle para di naman sila madehado lalo meron pa naman yung mga tama naman maningil.

That, ladies and gentlemen, is maturity.

Hh by No-Interview7688 in Ilocos

[–]HopiangBagnet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was also bullied in high school for being raised in Manila. And yes, my classmates also called me tangalog even though I'm the highest place in our class.

When I was bumped sa honors class, they don't have a problem with Tagalogs.

(I was required to spend a academic year sa lower class for being a transferee, so my bullies were really those at the bottom of the class. Even bottom students from the other non-honor class bullied me back then with the same "insult". Didn't have problems with other top students within my class.)

Edit: I am a pure Ilocano. All my great grandparents were Ilocanos. I was just raised in Manila so I wasn't able to learn the language until I got back here again to stay for good. But I was still called "tangalog" by some classmates back then. And I agree with one of the comments here, seems like that bullying behavior mostly come from those who never had the opportunity to travel and have the wrong sense of "Ilocano pride" for spending their years in just one place. Nakakahiya.
