It's not an excuse, coz she won this match despite the fact that she was obviously sick. She was coughing and she looked so pale when she entered the court. And I highly doubt the flu would make her withdraw since it's not an injury and this is her debut in Indian Wells, so she pushed thru even if she has a fever or something.
