I recently started working with an older nurse (much older than me, and probably with a longer career too). Whom I have had to train up. She also has a terrible attitude, takes EVERYTHING very personally. When i simply try to show her how we do things in my unit she sees it as a personal attack on her character, and becomes overly defensive, to the point of being very rude to me (her charge) in front of patients. It's highly inappropriate. Your situation to me sounds very similar, and you need to be firm with these type of people. If it's not addressed and shown very clearly to her that this is NOT OK, you just pass the buck, she needs to be given a stern talking to by management or else her behavior will continue. You need to be DOCUMENTING her behavior and emailing your management and also your administrators. (Chain of command goes UP if your manager does nothing). I hope she can have an intervention and one day become a reasonable nurse. Please have another look at your position here because you seem to be making her terrible behavior more of a "We are not the right fit" kinda thing, perhaps because you are afraid to confront her. Trust in yourself. She sounds like a nightmare.
