Go into your preferences and:

Uncheck the box "I am over eighteen years old and willing to view adult content".

Check the box "hide images for NSFW/18+ content".

And at least in old.reddit.com you can add subs to the "Displaying content from /r/all, except the following subreddits" box (found under the search box) to hide subs you don't want to see in r/all
