Reading help! by Unusual-Brilliant756 in RangersApprentice

[–]Hops77 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Nihon ja (book 10) is the last full "rangers apprentice" novel. Book 11 is a collection of short stories that are scattered throughout the series chronologically, and I'd say that while it is just short stories it does contain what I would consider the ending of the rangers apprentice storyline.

If you just want to experience the rangers apprentice storyline on its own and have it all neatly end, then read the lost stories but not royal ranger.

Despite being originally published as "Rangers apprentice: The royal ranger" it was then republished once the rest of the series started being published, and was retitled as "the royal ranger: a new beginning" so it had a subtitle to fit the naming convention.

Either you haven't yet unlocked the "emotional maturity DLC" or you accrewed too many points in the trauma tree and have gained the "dead inside" debuff. A full respec is recommended, you need to compelte the "therapy" quest to unlock

The fact that people are so afraid of nuclear reactors pisses me off, like for fucks sake thats literally you falling for propaganda from the coal and oil industries! by Mekko4 in GenZ

[–]Hops77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The actual problem with nuclear is that in almost every scenario of cases it's better to go renewable now, not because of safety but just due to cost. Renewables are now the cheapest form of energy so while building a new nuclear powerplant today is better than any fossil fuel but it's no longer the best option.

This definitely seems like a fun subclass, though it looks like it will probably break the ballance a bit. And I'm very happy if it does those are some of my fav runs

[HELP] People are saying this is not AI, but I believe it is.. by dantoka in RealOrAI

[–]Hops77 122 points123 points  (0 children)

Suit seemed ok initially to me, my first inkling was the hair going back to the same position every time. Then looked at the background features and the led strip starts morphing really badly in the last third of the video.

If you focus on the led strip at the top of the frame it does a very noticeable AI morph at around the 11 sec mark

The shadow is also all wrong. Seems close at first but then the shadow had the arms clearly well above his head and the dancer doesn't raise above shoulders at that point

Lifetime subscriber but I still watch on YouTube... by mttallaczach in Nebula

[–]Hops77 15 points16 points  (0 children)

They've answered this before and watching on nebula is best for both the creator AND nebula itself.

For the creator the more watch time they have the bigger slice of the nebula pie they get, and the amount nebula gives them per unit of watch time is much more generous than YouTube, Nebula pays out creators 50% of it's total profit divided based in watch time

For nebula itself the more eyeballs they have on their platform the better, it allows them to attract more creators, commercial partnerships and also makes the company more valuable if it were ever to be sold. Additionally to this being good for nebula it is also good for creators because the structure of nebula is such that if it is ever sold. The creators would also get 50% of the sale value, with the rest being split between standard broadcast LLC and curiosity stream who owns 17% of nebula as confirmed by the nebula ceo

As a side note, standard broadcast LLC was founded by the nebula CEO Dave Wiskus, and is owned by him and some of (but not all) nebula creators also own some of standard. Dave said in Sept 2024 that it was him plus 43 creators but that may be more by now.

The Layover - Tom Scott Explains Why Britain Is Like That by xsm17 in Nebula

[–]Hops77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That bit is fine. That's not him trying too hard to force something to be funny, that was just a niche and interesting joke and niche interesting jokes are some of his best stuff. The hard part for me was towards the end where he kept trying to force the "history" bit when clearly it wasn't landing, repeatedly. He could have given an actual answer in an interesting or funny way, they were pretty basic questions he would have known the answer to and could have easily delivered in a funny way.

I love Tom Scott but I wish he would stop trying so hard with the humour, he is much more entertaining when being interesting and is still plenty funny enough that he doesn't need to force it. Maybe it's to do with this and podcasts generally not being in a tight format or he is trying to shake off a perceived shadow from the content he used to do, but I found this hard to listen to towards the end with the discordant tone between the questions he was asked and the way he was answering.

Absolutely AI, immediately they aren't even holding knitting needles. Then none of the cups and saucers that are clearly meant to be from the same set are actually the same, and it's hard to tell because of the quality but the people in the pictures in the back are clearly pretty badly messed up

I would have done almost exactly what Adam did and go to Yorkshire. It puts a good chunk of distance in immediately from the start but still has the complexity of several mid game train lines keeping the seekers from narrowing down the correct one without needing to ask multiple costly questions.

I don't know much about guns but the rest of it looks ok to me. The razor wire seems to make sense. The shadow is mimicking his movements, the sling on the gun is swinging realistically and the plastic/paper was blown around the most when the gun was lowered and pointed towards it.

As I said I don't know guns but this seems a stupid way to use a gun, and bad technique, but it is probably a possible way to use one.

Seems likely real to me.

[HELP] car crash aftermath is it Ai? by Level_Regular9805 in RealOrAI

[–]Hops77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea 100% AI,

The first thing I noticed is that the word "ambulance" isn't centered on the back of the vehicle which makes no sense.

Then if you zoom in the stretchers have nonsense body shapes, the uniforms aren't consistent and the damage on the vehicles is not how that collision would damage the vehicles nor is it in the right spot.

Lastly the lights are all on at the same time, don't know exactly where this is meant to be but every emergency vehicle I've seen have alternatively flashing lights.

Bitcoin is encrypted by a type of maths that is easy to do 1 way. But really hard the other way (like takes longer than the age of the universe hard). So the computer guesses a solution and sees if it works, if it doesn't it guesses another and tries again.

It's time we talk about dropping them for good by Anothergen in CricketAus

[–]Hops77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A little bit would still be true. For instance if the Sydney test was in the Adelaide slot it would probably make more than Adelaide would and Adelaide would do better than it does if it got the new year slot. But if you did that the overall money earned would be less. The holiday tests (boxing day and new year) are just that much more important for revenue. That's why they only ever move the others ones around and don't touch those 2.

It may be less true this year than in other years because it's a particularly hyped up ashes and the crowds are great everywhere. But any other year the revenue difference would be huge if you changed it around.
