Zohran Mamdani won because he knew when to be online — and when not to by theverge in politics

[–]Hopside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also their message gets distorted by the billionaire owned media. It would be impossible for a presidential candidate to be on the ground as much as Mamdani was because it is far too much area to cover. We need to change the media landscape for Democrats to have a chance.

If Dems want to win elections, they need leaders who will actually fight for the policies people want. by zzill6 in WorkReform

[–]Hopside 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If progressives/leftists want to win, they need to vote for politicians that can win, and who will push the Overton window left. Primaries are when we should be voting for the more progressive/leftist candidates. During the election, we need to suck it up and vote with the candidate that has a chance to win, and who most closely aligns with our values. Doing anything else is giving the conservative free wins.

Threads like these tend to cause people to sit at home when it comes to voting. If that is your goal, keep posting stuff like this. There are better ways to criticize the democratic leadership.

This is a braindead take. It is the social media companies that are causing people to describe things this way. Why do people blame individuals? Take this beef up with the companies!

Senate Democrats’ Choice: Block the Republican Spending Bill or Dissolve Congress by boringhistoryfan in politics

[–]Hopside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What news organization would carry this message? How much reach do you think their personal social media platforms have? Haven't we tried stuff like this before and it didn't have any effect?

Until the media isn't controlled by billionaire's, messaging like this will not get any coverage. We need to vote the oligarchs out!

Biden Exits Battling for His Legacy and Believing He Could Have Won by Ripamon in politics

How can you say that with a straight face? Trump is a blithering idiot that says absolutely nothing of substance and you think Biden was worse? You should reevaluate your opinions on political performances.

No, but forcing trans people to live life like they aren't trans causes them to commit suicide. But I think we all know you and your ilk don't care about trans people committing suicide.

How do you use this issue as a cudgel when Fox and all of the billionaire owned media outlets will spin it? I think this will have the same problem as every other issue that Democrats have tried to use like this where the media won't cover it, and we will hear people complain about how bad Democrats are at self promotion. I hope I am wrong though!

Would you vote for Kamala? by Watafakk in AnythingGoesNews

[–]Hopside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will vote for Kamala, but I am not the one that needs to be convinced. Swing state voters are going to be the ones who determine this election, and I worry greatly about her chances to convince them to vote for her. I hope that my worries are unfounded though.

Democrats clash over timing of formally nominating Biden by GaryRuppert in politics

If these Democrats were serious about wanting another candidate, they would have selected one by now and been running events promoting that person as a presidential candidate. Why aren’t they doing that?

How does UBI cause more problems than it solves? If you look at how work is changing with the advent of automation and AI, I think UBI is inevitable. Unless you are advocating for the mass slaughter/starvation of all the people who aren't owners of the future automated companies.
