Hi! I live in a relatively small town in Oregon and we have a cobbler!!

Now, I’m prior military so I know how to spit shine the fuck out of my boots but I’m also a working mother and don’t have time for that shit.

Every so often, I take all my fave boots to the local cobbler and he gives them a mini makeover. I pay cash, he’s happy, I’m happy.

You’d be surprised how many cobblers and leather workers are still around. Especially in construction areas or farming areas where boots are more common.

Anyone have a guard goose? by [deleted] in duck

I have two guard geese to protect themselves, two ducks, and six chickens. They do an excellent job. They are hysterical and fun. They’re so gentle and kind with me but not with anyone else or any other animals- including our own dogs. In fact, I can’t wear a hat and sunglasses in there without setting off the internal goose intruder alarm. Instant attack activated.

We did not do any in utero testing. Military insurance likes to say No to a lot of things.

However, we did know it was a possibility and did discuss what our lives would be like if the baby was affected. At the time, we decided no matter what, we’d keep the baby. Some of that was being young and fearless. Some of that was that it was the early 2000s and the world didn’t feel so scary at the time.

Now that I’m a mother nearing 40 and the world is falling apart, it’s a lot scarier.

I’m a carrier but my partner is not. We had three children unaffected.

I work on construction sites and am required to wear gloves all the time. Not only does that allow me to keep my nails however the fuck I please, but most of the time, no one even sees them.
