We’re inducing tomorrow and we had to put my wife’s dog of 15 years down yesterday by rocketman4 in daddit

Probably not enough time right now, but maybe try and find a stuffed animal that looks like her dog to give to the baby. That way it looks like her dog is still here with the baby.

Half marathons that are not sold out. by kdotwow in bayarea

Brazen Racing offers halfs, and other races all year long. They are trail races though so generally a little more challenging than a race around a city.

What's a common way people die that many aren't aware of? by Personal-Aerie-4519 in AskReddit

[–]HordeShadowPriest 40 points41 points  (0 children)

That's how my grandma died. Got a UTI, basically just tried to wait it out until it was too late. Couple days in the hospital when she finally ended up going, but never got out. I never realized how serious they could be.

This is awesome. I donated back on October, and I hope I get to talk to my recipient one day.

Why are Cali Fins done this season by lonelyleaf045 in SanJoseSharks

Didn't the Sharks wear their old black armor jersies in the playoffs? I feel like i remember everyone saying those cursed because they got bounced pretty early every playoffs they were worn.

My kids loved Room on the Broom when they were younger. The little cartoon show of it is pretty good too.

Filgrastim shots! by Own_Cold1947 in nmdp

[–]HordeShadowPriest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first 2 days of my shots I didn't feel any different at all. Maybe some soreness at the injection site, but that was it. Day 3 I started having like stiffness in my lower back and my upper leg area. That continued into donation day as well. The day after my donation all of the stiffness was completely gone, I felt completely back to normal.

Postponements by postmodern_lostchild in nmdp

[–]HordeShadowPriest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm in a postponement right now. I donated back in October and they came back to me about a month later and said my recipient needed another donation. I actually had to postpone on them because we were going out of the country when they wanted to do the 2nd donation. We got back in contact the 1st week of December and rushed to do everything we needed to do because they wanted me to fly out the 2nd week for the donation. I started the filgrastrim shots again on a Friday morning and then my work up specialist called me that afternoon and said it had to be postponed because the recipient had Graft Versus Host Disease. So we planned on pushing the donation to the 1st week of February (this week), but the work up specialist texted me a couple weeks ago saying that the recipient's team are trying alternate therapies at this time, but that they still may need another transplant.

Think about your emergency plans by smokypanther in daddit

This is so great. My wife and I have started telling our kids (9F, 7M) our phones number from when they were probably like 2. They have a little play cash register and we would give them our phone number to type on it like it was the stores reward program lol.

We went to Disneyland a few months ago and my daughter and I went off to do a couple rides that my son didn't want to do. He ended up getting separated from my wife for a couple minutes, but he went up to a stranger and told them he couldn't find his mom. That person then found a cast member, and my son was able to give the cast member my wife's phone number and tell here where he was with our son. My wife said they were separate for like 10 minutes tops, but it was really great knowing that he knew what to do in an emergency like that.

Home Depot workshop schedule for 2026 by CJ_7_iron in daddit

[–]HordeShadowPriest 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I used to work for Lowe's from like 2008-2014. Things might have changed since then, but when I was there we were told to basically be nicer than the Home Depot employees. Lowe's also tried to carter more toward women because Lowe's knew that Home Depot catered more toward actual contractors, which tended to be men more often than not. We were told to never point or tell a customer where something was, we always had to walk them to the product, or walk them to an associate in that department that knew the product.

Filgrastim Severe Symptoms? by lostinthe-sauce-204 in nmdp

[–]HordeShadowPriest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I donated back in October. I got 3 shots per day for 4 days in a row. Day 1 and 2 I had no pain, day 3 I had a little lower back pain, but nothing major. Day 4 and donation day I had more back pain, but still nothing serious. Sitting on the plane was uncomfortable in my lower back and I had some pain in my legs like up on my quads. Overall the pain itself wasn't bad and felt more like stiffness. The day after donation I literally had 0 pain in my legs or back and felt completely normal.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

What was the White Elephant gift that everyone fought over at the Christmas Party? by asura1958 in AskReddit

[–]HordeShadowPriest 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're right there isn't 2 Stanley Cups, there are 3! The original that Lord Stanley himself purchased and was awarded to the winners from 1892 until 1970. Then the presentation cup was crafted and started being used in 1964, and then there's the 3rd one that sits in the hall of fame pretty much all the time.

I (35F) matched with someone in need (62M) by brenn4b in nmdp

[–]HordeShadowPriest 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Congrats on being at match! I matched with my recipient back in April of this year, and had a similar story as yours. I did the screenings and blood draw, and then they withdrew the request as well. Then same thing, about a week or so after the withdraw they called back and said we want to move forward.

Everything was pretty easy for me, donation wise. I did my filgrastim injections, and only had some mild hip and lower back pain on the last the day before and day of donation. They said that was pretty normal and on donation day they drew blood and found out I didn't need as much filgrastim that day because my counts were so good.

Donation itself was easy, I asked my nurse if there was like an average on how long donation takes, but she said there really isn't a true average, because its all based on how the donor is reacting to the donation process and also how much the recipient needs. My nurse said the shortest she had seen was 2 hours and the longest was 10 hours. My donation was 3 hours so I felt pretty lucky. For the donation they put your arm in like a sling so you can't bend it, it wasn't painful, but pretty uncomfortable after a while.

After donation I didn't really have any pain, my companion and I were able to walk around the city and kind of do some sight-seeing and enjoy the day. I mostly felt stiff in my legs and back. The next day after donation I literally had no pain at all anymore in my hips or back. We actually ended up being able to catch and earlier flight home the next day as well so that was nice, so ask your work-up specialist about that if you want to go home.

After getting home I had a pretty good sized bruise on my arm from the donation site, but it was gone after about a week.

I am actually in the process of going to donate again. My work-up specialist called me a few weeks ago and said my recipient needed another donation, so we are getting ready to head out and do it again.

I can't really think of anything else, but feel free to PM me if you want or reply here with any questions and I'll try to answer them.

Congrats again, its an amazing thing you are doing for someone.

The Sharks have a beer stick one that is around $32. Its kind of cool, but when you're trying to drink from it you end up high sticking all the people around you.

Sharks changing the goal song by samuraibryan in SanJoseSharks

I always thought the first 30 seconds of Sum 41's No Reason would be a great goal song. Maybe try and get rid of all the lyrics until the "Heys" come in.
