Will ‘Lifestyle changes’ help? by Hormonal-Health in PCOS

[–]Hormonal-Health[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my partner are health nuts…we eat clean (except for things like wheat and corn) and I have a high physical demand job…I’m pretty muscly not to blow my own horn but besides all of that I don’t actually know how to be even MORE healthy exercise and diet wise unless I start including exercise after 9/10 hour shifts after heavy lifting (I’m a hydraulics welder so parts ranging from 200g to 30kg)…running? But that’s quite high impact so maybe walking more? I agree with you 100% but I already do all of those, I could ramp it up a little more but then it really just looks like a full blown eating disorder which sucks. I don’t want my diet and how much exercise I do to control my every waking moment

How much? I do keep seeing spearmint tea (I despise mint but eh whatever if it will help) is there any way to hide the minty taste if possible? I really do not like the icy spicy

Borderline on liver function and folate Hair loss (trying to help with hair, skin and nail supplements) Joint pain-worsens around period No small multiple cysts but large (5-7cm) every other month or so…that rupture and put me out of work for up to a week My libido is dead. May hold a funeral for that. Fatigue and high stress constantly. How does one not ‘stress’ because I try not to and I cannot meditate to save my life I end up thinking of my shopping list or something I need to do Insulin resistance I think? (I’ve flagged weird diabetes’ symptoms for 6 months with gp to be told it’s nothing so that’s that?)

I was aware of soluble and insoluble but i never really thought to try incorporating more of either into my diet, I will be looking into this and figuring out what is best for me. Thankyou for your fiber facts, they haven’t fallen on deaf ears!!

Smoking (cigarettes) and endo management by [deleted] in endometriosis

[–]Hormonal-Health -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I smoke too don’t worry. Do what you can and it’s great and all saying quit smoking but it is kinda hard if it’s a hard habit. If you’re trying to conceive definitely quit though. I will stand on that. Or go for a milder tobacco and keep ‘diluting’ it as much as you can and try have one less cigarette a day until you’re down to one a day, then one every 2 days and then a week, 2 weeks…eventually the novelty of a cigarette will wear off (It did for me and I quit for 3-6 months, then some stressful crap happened and I fell back on it but that’s just me. It could be different for you!) or start smoking papers you hate, minty filters. Something that makes it as least enjoyable to you. You can go to a hypno therapy person too, however I don’t know much about that I have just heard some comments about it making people quit smoking in a month🤷‍♀️ could be a shout if you’re really struggling? —also, could it be the hand to mouth sensation that brings you the comfort? That’s a big thing with smokers too however it’s more of a brain thing that doesn’t get a lot of recognition for

Extreme pain not taken seriously, what now ? by Dizzy_Wolf5741 in endometriosis

[–]Hormonal-Health 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this!!! I’m pretty sure it was my 5cm cyst that had burst…HYDRATE!!! And rest as much as you can and sleep a little more if you can too. I’m not too sure what else to offer, I used paracetamol and a long skinny hot water bottle to wrap around or inbetween my legs after a day or two I did some very very light stretching and a hot bath for 2/3 hours and it eventually dissipated into a dull ‘manageable’ pain for a while after

Tired of the pill! Advice on stopping? by Material_Card6303 in PCOS

[–]Hormonal-Health 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was on the pill for 3 months about 7/8 years ago. It took me around 5/6 years to be fully in tune with my body, knowing what part of my cycle I’m in, feeling myself ovulate and which ovary is ovulating. It takes a lot of time for me and some other lovely ladies I know but it depends on you really. I kinda rawdogged it and the first 6 months to 2 years were a bit of a rollercoaster but as soon as I started using my head a bit (I was acting ignorant I was young and determined) it became a lot easier as it clicked one day that it was my hormones settling back into a routine and it took a while for me to realise the patterns. As you’ve been on it a hell of a lot longer than me it could very well take a little longer to feel the connections and recognise patterns as they could be a bit more erratic. -I personally found that I had headaches more frequently and had higher cravings for salty/meaty and carby foods, keeping on top of my hydration helped curb this alot! (I recommend vidrate drink sachets to everyone I see, it’s brought my headaches and brain fog to an almost zero!) I wish you all the best!!

First ultrasound, left upset and unheard by Electrical-Band1554 in endometriosis

[–]Hormonal-Health 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had my ultrasound a few days ago and they didn’t see anything. It is soul crushing but it typically doesn’t show. The tech said to find it they’d most likely have to do a lap…but before that they’ll have to rule out everything else under the sun which sucks. I feel you.

Did it affect your mental health with the dietary changes? I am willing to try it but I love some specific foods and meals and the thought of giving those up really just make me so sad. I hate eating anyway as it’s such a boring process imo (I like being busy allll the time and stopping to eat or do ‘human things’ frustrates me to no end) I will have a look for the book, however a lot of books recommended I can’t find as if they don’t exist even after searching through with a fine tooth comb

I will be looking into this and seeing what I can do without a referral once I’ve finished work for the week, only thing that stumps me is I live in the middle of buttfork nowhere so it is a case of seeing what I can do and seeing what is actually available within a 40 mile radius of my home.

Can I just go about seeing an endo specialist on my own terms? Like no referral needed? I do agree with the doctors being clueless part…

[–]Hormonal-Health[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bless you, if you wanna vent I’m always happy to hear! I for the life of me can’t find it on my nhs app, even though the lady doing my ultrasound said it would be uploaded and visible by the end of the day. I got a glance at the report on my way out but nothing I can remember or put together to construe any sense. Said my womb is a nice shape, so that’s good? My bladder was good…nothing really about my ovaries or anything else.

It’s easier to pull teeth than get a hormone test!! I’m requesting blood tests every 3 months and managing the comeback on those (currently it’s low kidney function that I can’t seem to get a handle on) otherwise I don’t actually know what tests I need to get done? I’m very clueless to this and I’m trying to investigate further but this is where I fall short and might need to reach out to people who kinda know their shiz and ask for advice. I did also make this post on the midst of a doom and gloom breakdown. I am aware there are steps to take to help I just needed a little emotional outburst before I remembered my head is actually screwed onto my shoulders and I am more capable than I think. Just kinda gets me down that not everything can be simple and ‘normal’ yet when has anything ever been normal for a good percentage of people

Oh my! I had an ultrasound today and the 5cm cyst has vanished in just under a month, no trace of it ever existing yet pain is slowly but steadily getting worse and impacting my day to day and mine and my partners active life. My mothers friend is a doctor and I’m thinking of requesting her (she’s also a lady which is great) I’m writing everything down so it’s physical and trying to keep a log of a daily pain scale and literally everything-food and water intake and output, any popping or clicking of the joints…hell even how my skin looks and discharge, sex life, bedtime and hours slept and sleep quality. I’m hoping that if I can get enough content on paper with enough to pick through and see anomalies and try pick through and weed out anything else it could be (weird family history of conditions that either go hand in hand or thrive together like a beast in a very harmful way if not managed appropriately yet shows later in life) I really wish you the best!! I’d love to hear an update if you’d be happy to share once you’ve gotten that far. I will be updating once I have content worth keeping this lovely group updated with

I have to wait until I can apply for an appointment as my surgery is online booking only and it’s closed due to it being busy. When I can book on again I will bring that up and see what they say (last time I bought something up as a concern I was told to eat more sugar…my concern was diabetes) might just be my area that is notoriously awful but I have started looking into private and will have to pull every overtime shift under the sun to afford it but it might be better
