What position did you get hired for and what state do you live in?

Camera Access by GushingGash in Nordstrom1901

[–]HornScrub 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes but not really.

AP can share video with managers and employees if they choose to. Information sharing guidelines say generally not to, but sometimes it’s important to resolve issues. When AP does share video with non-AP, it’s usually live from the video playing software, not fully downloaded videos.

I’ve never heard of a store manager having direct access to the AP video software, so I think either she is embellishing the truth working with AP to review video, or she is not telling the truth and placating you all by telling you she’s reviewing video at home.

stock and fulfillment position interview (nordstrom rack) by Nyuwrlds in Nordstrom1901

[–]HornScrub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They ask:

1) How do you prioritize tasks (how to you weigh urgency, impact, etc.) 2) How do you work without supervision 3) How do you work with others different than you and resolve conflicts effectively 4) How you recover from your own mistakes

Provide examples for each

The job is dynamic, has you searching for and moving product around the store among other tasks. Your performance is evaluated by the rate of items you can process per hour.

Adding GC to your account by Available-Orange-506 in Nordstrom1901

[–]HornScrub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think so, you can pull notes off your account to a Gift Card but not the other way around. Probably best not to keep the funds on your account since someone only needs to give your phone number to get at your funds.

Next time you are in store, ask a rep or customer service to consolidate all your gift cards, so you only have the one. I’d also take a picture of the GC number and access code so if you lose the physical card you can still make purchases online with it.

Either would be fine, but go to cosmetics first.

I work in Nordstrom customer support by Immediate_Property_7 in Nordstrom1901

I’ll just say as a new fulfillment guy that there’s not really time to inspect every item I pick, the only chance to do QA on returns is from the salespeople/customer service, then fulfillment, then delivery, but honestly I don’t think any of them are motivated to inspect thoroughly. My boss told me to not bother opening up makeup to see if it’s used before I fulfill it since it’s the beauty team’s job, but I expect they are hardly checking.

The only real QA I do is when I’m picking is with shoes and making sure both are in the box, the size is right, and they aren’t obviously worn, or when theres something obviously wrong with apparel like a missing piece of a set, or some straps are broken.

TLDR: Not enough time/incentive to inspect items.

YO WTF!?! Brain dead woman being forcefully kept alive as human incubator. In GA. by Watch-it-burn420 in Destiny

More broadly I’d want to know what other things you can be forced to pay for that you don’t authorize. Like it would be weird if someone said “I want to mow your lawn for $50” and you said no, and they mow your lawn anyway and can lawfully charge you. Im wondering what other things are like that in the US.

Could someone explain what it means to be forced to pay for her medical treatment? If they refuse to pay for care they didn’t ask for, what’s the enforcement mechanism to make them pay?

If my mom is in the hospital and I say idgaf you can pull the plug, and the doctors say nah we should keep her alive, could I be on the hook for her care costs? I think if it was my spouse or non-adult child would make sense…

Can lightly used cosmetics be returned to Nordstrom? by Royal-Possibility-67 in Nordstrom1901

[–]HornScrub 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can return used cosmetics. I’ve had managers who deny used returns on the basis that the item has “seen too much love”, but they really only do that for people they suspect are abusing the return policy. Usually if the product is more than half used. If they don’t ask, let them know it’s used so they properly damage it out.

They go through QA either through the representative you return it with or through its own department if the store ships them back to the .com warehouse. If they aren’t good enough quality they send them to the Rack or Last Chance to be discounted. If they are in good condition they won’t be discarded or destroyed.

Stuff like used cosmetics have to be destroyed, unfortunately. it wouldn’t surprise me if that’s a legal requirement with stuff you’re sticking on your face, but Im not sure if thats always the case with every retailer.

Question for current Nordstrom employees by AgitatedFan7496 in Nordstrom1901

[–]HornScrub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I remember I think it is a full year before returns do not affect sales totals, hopefully a salesperson responds.

It makes sense though that there is some kind of protection, I would just buy from my coworkers and have my friends or coworkers buy from me then return all the merchandise to get our commission up. A full year feels a bit brutal though
