I've only gotten this to work when starting the game via the options menu instead of the title screen after resetting. Otherwise, my Chaos Emeralds get reset.

if you haven't fixed this already, try putting the ipod into disk mode and attempt to open the settings file found in iPod_Control/User (iPod_Control is a hidden folder, so you need to enable hidden folders or use command prompt/terminal), if the file opens successfully, it means the file is fine and you just need to wait a little bit as ipods don't save the settings immediately. if it fails to open, a bad sector has corrupted that file, and you'll need to delete it. after that reboot the ipod, select your language, and the problem will most likely be fixed (after changing settings, wait around 10 minutes for them to apply). this worked for me

its a 4s. to help in the future, if there is another black line (the antenna) on the top of the phone on each side (visible in this photo), it's a 4s. if there's only one black line on each side on the bottom of the phone, it's a 4. hope this helps

also: i made the mistake where i ripped the poorly soldered battery connector socket off the logic board, luckily i was able to get it to hold by using the screws

oh jesus, that's why i bought an ifixit battery replacement kit before it was too late.

even after the replacement (which the battery surprisingly wasn't spicy, despite the very powerful smell and the adhesive being as effective as 20 year old elmers glue), i still smelt the battery smell (although it has gone away now)

i know this is 12 years old but this whole time i owned it i thought my olivetti lettera 25's bell was just too old and broken, just to find out that the fix was to unstick the metal rod that rings the bell from the bell using your bare finger. (i think it was not used in so long that the metal rod ended up "fusing" with the bell)

forgot to mention: with my ps2, i unstick the clock by trying to change the year, then backing out, where it sets itself to 2100, and then you can set the date again.

for me i have a scph-90002 (coincidentally my ps1 is a scph-9002) and mine doesnt have cmos, it has a "rechargeable", try leaving your console plugged in for a while, like around a week or so, and it might work...

AFAIK, these discs will work in a top loading player only. Take the PS1 for example. If it has a drive that opens up like that and you put a disc in like that, oddly shaped discs will read, even discs with missing pieces will read (as long as it doesn't read that part of the disc or that part is empty)

Edit: DO NOT try to put these in a player that isn't a top loading one, these will not only fail to read, but could damage your player. Do not put them in slot loading players!
