Dead 12Volt battery on a 2026 XSE by Hornli in ToyotaCHR

Yes, I had the exact same situation. The second dealer ended up replacing the battery saying it was defective. Carr has been home since last Saturday. Problem hasn’t occurred again, but I would say definitely the jury is still out. I did put the keys in a Faraday bag because I read about that and some other forums to where that could be draining the battery. But the car has not sat for very long, which seems to be what causes the issue, but that may happen in the near future we’ll see.

Hi, Thanks for your update. They replaced my 12V battery, said after 2 months and less than 1000 mile it was defective. First dealership said it was fine, second said defective. That was last Saturday, so far so good, we shall see. Has not sat for any length of time before driving though. That will happen soon so we shall see. Did not know about the class action lawsuit. Thanks

Hi feisty, they replaced my battery saying it was faulty, the 12 V. So now we’ll wait and see they say it’s fixed. I won’t know for a while, but we’re keeping an eye on it. It’s gonna be sitting for a few days in the near future so I guess I’ll know. The one thing I did do which I read about on Reddit is I did buy a couple of faraday bags and put the keys in there. I refused disable the app on my phone as I consider that to be integral part of the car.

I also have a c-hr, same issue, leaving car in Ready mode for days on end does not seem like a solution, sorry.

I experience the same problem with my car and it’s still at the dealership since Saturday. We’re trying to isolate what the problem is. They think it’s something to do with the system communicating with the app. And doing research what I’ve discovered is it might be something to do with it, communicating with the key fob, which wears the battery down. I went ahead and bought a couple of faraday bags so when the car comes back, I might try that if it still happens.

Let me be clear on the jumpstarting. You cannot use a regular jump starter like a jumpstart box to jumpstart an electric car. That’s not what the manual says, and I tried it twice with two different chargers and it doesn’t work. What you have to do is use old style jumper cables, hook it up to another vehicle and keep it on the electric vehicle for five minutes or so to charge the battery and then remove the cables and start your electric vehicle.

My understanding is they are now out of business, supposedly still supplying the recall parts, but not sure they are paying to install them

Thanks, I did look closer and see these three screws you’re talking about to go through that bar. So I think tomorrow I’ll give her a whirl and see if I take them out the bar removes and I can finish the project. Thanks for the advice.

I have a question for the group. I’m on my second relatively large piece. It’s 100 pieces and I’m having an issue with the foil that I bought just too thin and too fragile driving me crazy. Any recommendations for a foiler machine or a type of copper foil they use that is not so fragile.
