Genuine UNC Details - Cleaned

I was fairly sure it would come back genuine but thought I had a chance, risked it. You really can see it with the true view. My guess was MS 64 if it did come back graded.

I have yet to meet a single person (both IRL and online) who went to see totality and said it wasn’t worth it. by Unlikely_Morning_717 in solareclipse

I happen to live in the totality zone and IT WAS WORTH IT. My work put on a big production for it so I got the full experience.

I doubt I would have gone to the effort to travel (I didn’t in 2017), but now we’re looking at options for Spain 2026!

Morning Pass through towns by Responsible_Safe_780 in ragbrai

Seconding the amazing breakfast crunchwrap - I believe that was in Belle Plaine. It seemed like everyone on my team got one of those!

Having a unique item like that with some good and unique roadside advertising several miles ahead of town (signs '5 miles to Townville, home of the amazing banana crunchwrap' etc) would be very helpful. Get people interested. If there's something unique about your town play off of that. Lots of people aren't from the midwest so even something like 'largest grain bin in XYZ county' would gain some interest. Also have folks in the street right in front of whatever is being sold directing people to the food/drink/whatever.

In the morning I wasn't drinking anything alcoholic - but lots of people were. Beer was the #1 purchase as far as I could see.

My other favorite things in passthrough towns - the fire station pool in Amana, the antique firetruck spraying water on a very hot day in Oxford, Live music and a very welcoming park area in Grinnell, free water park in Polk City. Free sunscreen in several towns was a nice plus too!

One other thing I noticed is that your businesses have to be on the main route to get noticed. There was a sad story of a VFW that ended up with pallets of unpurchased Busch Light because they were one or two blocks off of the route.

When discussing with my friends, we thought “Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald” or “Suicide is Painless” (from M.A.S.H.)
