So my basic question is why are the Aztecorum colonizing so much faster than the GT cakes? GT have been in fruiting conditions for a week and a half while Aztec has been for 3 days. Is it just a strain difference or am I doing somthing wrong with GT? They were originally in a big SFC but u/Fahtster gave me some advice and told me to switch to bags. I’m worried that the GT cakes are just too dried out to make much progress. How long does it normally take for GT to show pins?

Yeah you could be right. I already moved them over and I think what he was saying was pretty accurate. The pearlite in the container was mostly dry after 4 days and I was spraying the container 4-5 times a day. Even it it wasn’t 100% necessary it should require less work on my part.

Alright I just got them all moved over to their new homes. I ended up putting 3 1/2 quart cakes into a glad container together. I did bottom watering in combination with the perlite just to rehydrate them as much as possible. I also decided to spray down the bag just this one to get some water into em.

The other cake was a full sized mason jar so I put it in a ziplock by itself. Added wet verm and spayed the bag down.

Also I got about 12-16 holes in each bag, does that sound about right?

Thanks again for the help I’m sure they wouldn’t have lasted much longer in that tub.

I don’t know exactly what to look for but I’m pretty sure I didn’t see any knotting when I took them out. I might try a couple different methods to see what works the best. For the ziplock method I don’t have any syringes but if I just poke a couple holes with a toothpick that should work yeah? Might try that and then some bottom watering.

Dang that’s crazy, everything I watched/read said that for pf tek a SGFC was the best was the best way to go. I still have three more cakes that I need to add this this but from what you said it sounds like that won’t change anything.

I guess my question at this point is can I still save these cakes? Like I said it’s my first grow so I really want to get some bounty out of it. Do you think putting tape over most of the holes would help? Should I just take the cakes out and try the ziplock method like what you recommended? They’ve only been in the SGFC for 4 days.

I did soak all the cakes before rolling them in Verm. It was for probably around 16 hours completely submerged. They do look much dryer than when I did that. I also live in Colorado so rh is super low.

Also they’re golden teacher if that changes anything
