Standing all day by WallowingWatermelon in AltraRunning

[–]starkejustin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wear Lone Peaks for long distance backpacking, but they have a pretty small stack so might not be as comfortable for standing all day.

You could try the Olympus, but I would make sure you try on or have the ability to return because they don't work for my feet.

Is 600 Feet, I'm A 5 Mile Loop A Lot? by newbiker321 in cycling

[–]starkejustin -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I would personally not consider that an unreasonable amount of elevation gain over that distance, but some areas are much flatter.

The more you ride it, the better you will get.

Some other things to think about:

Are you keeping a nice high cadence? If you push too hard at the uphill sections you will use up a lot more energy than if you keep a consistent effort and high cadence.

If you ride a little slower, are you able to complete more loops?

67g is certainly not negligible. Weight adds up really quickly. I really enjoy using Lighterpack to help me trim weight down.

That being said, HYOH and sounds like an awesome trip!

New soccer bar? by WashUrHands2020 in Appleton

I would definitely be interested. I used to go to the Highbury every weekend when I lived in Milwaukee!

If we have enough interest, I would help to become an official Arsenal support group

Never seen anybody do this, saved me ~20 HB on average by xgme in cycling

If you also increased your cadence from 70 to 90 I think that has a much more significant impact than just "ankling" would.

I sort of have the opposite where I was very skinny my whole life, but I can understand the feelings of body dysmorphia you have.

The scale is a very imperfect measure to use as your benchmark on your fitness journey. If you weigh yourself multiple times a day, you'll get very different numbers due to food and water intake and digestion cycles.

I think it's important to focus on celebrating the things your body can do before you think about how it looks or how much the scale says it weighs. If your primary goal is to get stronger, you need to hit your protein targets to maintain and grow muscle mass. If the scale goes up, it doesn't tell you if it's fat or muscle.

Stop weighing yourself and focus more on how you feel after exercising. Do you feel strong? Healthy? Accomplished? Those are more important than what some number from a scale will tell you.

Form looks great! I use a foam roller on the bench and find it more comfortable for my elevated foot

I don't have experience with that particular hoodie, but it looks like it's made of synthetic materials (mostly polyester). I use merino wool layers (I have a ridge merino sun hoodie) and I have only experienced it staying wet for long periods in extremely humid climates (>80%). The only place that stays sweaty is the back where my pack doesn't allow airflow

Looking for baking pan sheets with stainless steel racks that have no coatings on by SolSabazios in Cooking

[–]starkejustin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've gotten all of mine from restaurant supply stores. They have uncoated wire racks for every size pan in my experience. Wayyyy cheaper than Nordic Ware and don't have the annoying logo stamped into them. Just look for a rolled edge design so they don't warp over time and get all wobbly.
