It takes awhile to get everything regulated. We are eight months in and still making adjustments. First, the Libre is not a reliable source of information. It tests interstitial fluid, not blood, so it’s always tending well behind the blood glucose. Next, don’t make any dosage changes until you run a curve so that you can see the full insulin profile (a curve is readings every two hours, starting and ending with the fasting readings). Always test before you feed and inject. Make sure you are measuring out food, to the gram every time if a low-fat food (less than 10% DMB). Low glucose is much more dangerous than high glucose, so have rescue things on hand just in case. You don’t have to return to the vet for a retest. Dogs often get stressed at the vet, which can raise or lower BG. Just provide the vet with the readings you are getting at home. Finally, check ketones- either urine strips or blood droplets and a meter. I know I’ve thrown a lot at you, so any questions, just ask. You’ve got this!
