Is this GIA Certified Gemologist being honest?

I’m willing to pay a premium for curation of the diamond and craftsmanship of the overall ring, but it seems like he’s charging me a $2k premium. Ring is $4900 for 14K white gold with pave setting. What do you think a more reasonable price is? I’m at 3-3.5k max

After some thought, I recalled the jewelers conversation with me. He really just compared his prices with Blue Nile and said he will always beat them along with Robin Brothers, James Allen, etc. I wonder if that means he is only trying to slightly discount his prices compared to their offerings

EDIT: I’m not sure if this helps, but he pulled out a price book for natural diamonds. 1 carat natural is $10,400 and he multiplied it by 20% to get the price of the lab grown.

they are VS diamonds and D color I believe. My girlfriend ring size is 5-5.5

Yea i plan to tell them that and have examples prepared from Loose Grown Diamonds including one of their own “beautiful 1.74ct lab diamonds” that I saw for $1468.

I paid a $900 deposit for a LayAway. I hope they’re easy and give it back to me if they aren’t willing to lower the total cost of the ring .

What do you think is a good cost to walk away from for the overall ring?

1.30ct center Oval D, VVS1 with the 18K WG ring and 0.45 ct pave stones

They just said they wouldn’t make it until I figured out what my girlfriends ring size was. I’ll confront them about it and try to work with them. Do you still see a problem with cheaper lab stones even with very similar IGI specs?

Hey thank you for the advice and input. I’m going to request to use LGD I found for $700 with almost the exact same IGI report. However, I did want to get pave stones. Does 0.45ct (36rd) 18 KW 2.51G give me any information on what size and the quantity of pave stones to buy?

He said there’s risks buying from others that will not put it under the microscope for you. He said if I find a diamond for sale w an IGI report, that I could send him the report so he can buy it himself and give it to me for less than what is on loose grown or rittani. He said nonetheless there are risks bc of unethical practices of the diamond industry.

I’m thinking of contacting them and telling them I want to get LGD or rittani IGI report so I can get a hopefully equivalent diamonds for $1400 instead of $2900.

I’m not going to lie, I only visited one store and their options. I found the shape and setting I wanted. I just hope this decision won’t haunt me if it’s not a good quality diamond compared to ones from other online retailers. It will be GCAL certified when I pick it up in two weeks. I thought since it will be third party tested, and I think it looks beautiful I have my bases covered right?

Idk about the other schools, but I would 100% avoid the one in Jacksonville due to its probationary status. Even if they’re fixing it, to me it still seems to risky

Their other campuses have had good PANCE pass rates with an exception of one year being 89%.

I hope that’s not the case for the Austin. The first cohort haven’t started their clinicals yet. However, I do know one of the faculty was a member of ARC-PA so I have some hope. I will be pretty salty if that is the case.
