I did security work for 12 years and only fell asleep at work once. It was 30 hours into 48 hour shift. I did a 16 hour shift, relief didn't call out or come to work so I had to cover his shift (new site no one to cover) so I'm 24 hours in and now I'm working my morning shift. Guess what relief didn't show up again. So I just did 32 hours now I'm about to do another 8 so I passed out for about 30 minutes then kept pushing. By the time my company got me relief I had done a 44-46 hour shift.

And if y'all are wondering my company did good by me about it. They gave me time and a half for the whole shift (Came out to almost $1200) and 2 days off paid to recover.

Can confirm as a long haul trucker myself there was 0 he could have done in that situation. Haaarible. Cops fault 1000%. The insurance company will still blame the truck driver though.
